At the press conference on the situation and results of police work in the first 6 months of 2024, held by the Ministry of Public Security in the afternoon of July 8th, Deputy Colonel Nguyen Quang Phuong, Deputy Director of the Police Department for Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy and Smuggling, provided information about the progress and results of the investigation into the case that occurred at Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company, Thang Long Commercial and Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company, and some related agencies and localities. He also informed about the management, use of capital and assets, divestment, and restructuring at Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation.
Phuc Son Group Case: 23 Subjects Prosecuted and Detained
Regarding the progress and results of the investigation into the case that occurred at Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company, Thang Long Commercial and Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company, and some related agencies and localities, Deputy Colonel Nguyen Quang Phuong stated that the authorities initiated the case on February 26th, 2024. Up to now, the Investigation Police Agency under the Ministry of Public Security has prosecuted and detained 23 subjects to investigate 5 crimes: Violation of accounting regulations causing serious consequences; Violation of bidding regulations causing serious consequences; Receiving bribes; Taking advantage of the influence of officials and holders of authority to seek benefits; and Abuse of position and power while performing official duties. These crimes took place at Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company, Thang Long Commercial and Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company, Vinh Phuc, Quang Ngai, and Vinh Long provinces, and related units.
The investigation agency is continuing to clarify the violations of the subjects and related individuals and proceed with the investigation as planned.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the Phuc Son Group case “is a very complex case, involving many localities, and a large volume of objects and documents to be collected.”
The investigation agency is consolidating documents and evidence, expanding the case, and recovering lost and appropriated assets worth over 300 billion VND, 2 million USD, over 500 taels of gold, and temporarily holding over 1,000 red books.

Continuing to answer the press’s questions related to the management, use of capital and assets, divestment, and restructuring at Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation, Deputy Colonel Nguyen Quang Phuong said: “Regarding this case, the Government Inspectorate has concluded that there were violations by Tuan Dung Private Enterprise. On December 20th, 2022, the Criminal Police Department sent Document No. 4183/CV-CSKT-P9, requesting the Government Inspectorate to transfer the case file to the Investigation Police Agency of Tay Ninh Provincial Public Security for handling according to their competence.”

On July 8th, the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference to announce the situation and results of the police work in the first 6 months of 2024.
