Welcoming the FIATA President to Vietnam, Prime Minister Chinh expressed his appreciation for FIATA’s support in assisting the Vietnam Logistics Services Enterprises Association in hosting the FIATA World Congress in 2025.
The Prime Minister informed that the average annual growth rate of Vietnam’s logistics sector is between 14% and 16%, significantly contributing to the country’s impressive total import and export turnover, which reached nearly $700 billion in 2023. In the first six months of 2024, the total import and export turnover is estimated at $370 billion, a surge of 15.7% compared to the same period in 2023, with a trade surplus of $11.63 billion. As an open economy, Vietnam recognizes the crucial role of logistics in its economic development, aligning with global trends.
Expressing his gratitude to FIATA for being an important bridge that fosters cooperation between the Vietnam Logistics Services Enterprises Association, Vietnamese logistics enterprises, and their global counterparts, Prime Minister Chinh acknowledged FIATA’s contributions to the development of Vietnam’s logistics services.
The Prime Minister shared that the Vietnamese government is currently formulating the “Strategy for the Development of Vietnam’s Logistics Services for the Period of 2025-2035, with a Vision to 2045.” He requested FIATA to share information, provide consulting and support in the areas of digital transformation and green transition, with a focus on solutions for the development of agricultural and industrial logistics, the expansion of Vietnam’s maritime fleet, the establishment of economic and commercial transport corridors, and technical assistance to help Vietnam finalize the National Strategy on Logistics Development in 2024.
Moreover, Prime Minister Chinh stated that in the future, the Vietnamese government will consider establishing a steering agency for logistics services with a competent and authorized professional apparatus to assist the government in directing and promoting this important sector. This move aims to meet the practical demands of developing the logistics services sector and ensure alignment with Vietnam’s extensive international integration. He requested FIATA’s support in human resource development for Vietnam’s logistics sector and the expansion of training programs to enhance the capabilities of Vietnamese enterprises.
The Prime Minister emphasized Vietnam’s focus on developing strategic infrastructure, including logistics infrastructure, and the training of high-quality human resources. He assured that the Vietnamese government would accompany domestic and foreign partners, providing support and creating favorable conditions for economic, investment, trade, and service cooperation, with a particular emphasis on collaborative development in the field of logistics, bringing greater benefits to all parties in the spirit of harmonious interests and shared risks.
Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister for receiving the delegation, Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, President of FIATA, highlighted the critical role of logistics in the current context, while also acknowledging the significant challenges it faces. He requested and expressed his belief in the active support and participation of the Vietnamese government, ministries, and sectors in ensuring the successful organization of the FIATA World Congress in Hanoi in 2025.
