The 220kV Yên Hưng Substation has successfully doubled its capacity after the completion of the project.

Prior to this, on June 25, 2024, the project had completed its construction and was approved for energization by the investor’s acceptance council.

The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed and operated by the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB), and will be handed over to the Power Transmission Company 1 for operation.

The project is located within the existing 220kV Yên Hưng Substation in Minh Thành Ward, Quảng Yên Town, Quảng Ninh Province.

The project involves the installation of a 220/110/22 kV-250MVA transformer. On the 220kV side, a breaker unit for the AT2 transformer is installed, and the connection diagram is changed from a triangle to a tetragon.

On the 110kV side, a breaker unit for the 220/110/22kV transformer is installed, following the double-busbar and busbar-loop scheme. The project is also equipped with a control, protection, and measurement system, as well as a communication and SCADA system, in accordance with the regulations of EVN, EVNNPT, and the current electrical equipment regulations.

It is known that due to the increasing electricity demand for socio-economic development in Quảng Ninh Province, the Provincial People’s Committee has proposed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN to invest in installing a 220kV – 250MVA transformer at Yên Hưng Substation. EVNNPT was assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN as the investor of the project.

During the implementation process, the project faced many challenges due to the urgency and the procedures related to the investment policy. However, with the strong support and direction of the leaders of Quảng Ninh Province, EVN, and EVNNPT, as well as the coordination of the provincial departments, these difficulties were gradually overcome.

NPTPMB also implemented multiple measures, closely cooperated with local authorities to expedite the approval process for the investor, coordinated with consultants to accelerate project establishment and approval, and facilitated the procurement of equipment and materials and construction of the project.
