
Binh Duong, Vietnam: A bustling industrial hub with a thriving economy and the highest per capita income in the country.
According to the latest statistics from the General Statistics Office on living standards, the average monthly income per person at current prices reached approximately VND 4.962 million, a 6.2% increase from 2022. In 2023, the region with the highest per capita income was the Southeast region (VND 6.520 million per person per month), 1.9 times higher than the region with the lowest per capita income, the Mid-Northern Mountainous region (VND 3.438 million per person per month).
Among the 63 provinces and cities, Binh Duong province has the highest average monthly income in the country. Accordingly, the average income of a worker here is VND 8.298 million per month, 1.7 times higher than the country’s per capita income.
When classified by income, the richest households in Binh Duong (the top 20% of the population – group 5) had an average monthly income in 2023 of VND 18.356 million per person, 7.1 times higher than the poorest households (the bottom 20% of the population – group 1) with an income of VND 2.581 million.

Following Binh Duong, the next position belongs to Hanoi with an income of VND 6.86 million per person per month. Dong Nai ranks third with an average income of VND 6.57 million per person per month. Ho Chi Minh City stands at fourth place with VND 6.51 million per person per month.
For other centrally-controlled cities like Hai Phong, Da Nang, and Can Tho, the report shows that the average income per person in Hai Phong in 2023 was VND 6.39 million per month. Meanwhile, in Da Nang, the average income per worker in 2023 was VND 6.22 million per month. For Can Tho, in 2023, the average monthly income per worker was VND 5.57 million.
According to the General Statistics Office, the income of employed workers includes:
– Income from wages, salaries, and other income of a wage nature, including: Overtime pay, bonuses, allowances, etc., for paid employees in the economy. These incomes can be in cash or in kind.
– Income from production and business activities, including: Profits from agricultural production for sale, profits from goods and services trading, etc., excluding income from interest on loans or dividends unrelated to the current job.
The average monthly income of workers in urban areas in 2023 reached VND 6.260 million per person per month, nearly 1.5 times higher than in rural areas (VND 4.169 million per person per month). The richest group (the top 20% of the population – group 5) had an average monthly income per person in 2023 of VND 10.855 million, 7.48 times higher than the poorest group (the bottom 20% of the population – group 1) with an income of VND 1.451 million per person per month.
Accelerating disbursement of the 120 trillion VND credit package for social housing
Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà has recently issued directives regarding the implementation of the 120,000 billion VND credit package for investors and buyers of social housing, workers’ housing, and projects for the renovation and construction of apartment buildings.
