Samsung has officially unveiled its new Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip 6 smartphones at its Unpacked event. The latest iterations of the popular foldable smartphones are now even more accessible, with improved designs that are thinner, lighter, and more durable, along with enhanced usability and unique features.

During the event, Samsung representatives focused on the AI capabilities and user-centric features of the new devices, rather than delving into technical specifications. The Z Fold6, in particular, boasts a significantly thinner and lighter design compared to its predecessor. With a folded thickness of just 12 mm (down from 13.4 mm) and a weight of 239 grams, it is nearly on par with today’s slab-style smartphones and only slightly heavier than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The thinner and lighter design of the Z Fold6 enhances the overall user experience, providing a more comfortable grip and improved usability. Samsung has also improved the folding mechanism for increased durability. The bezels have been significantly reduced, resulting in a 2.7 mm expansion of the usable space when folded.

Dust resistance has been a challenge for foldable smartphones, but Samsung has addressed this issue in the Z Fold6 with an IP48 rating, meaning it can resist the ingress of objects larger than 1 mm. The device is also water-resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. It’s worth noting that the phone still uses an aluminum frame instead of titanium, as seen in the S24 Ultra.

The Z Fold6 is powered by the Snapdragon Gen 3 for Galaxy, a collaboration between Samsung and Qualcomm. This high-end chip offers improved processing and graphics performance, along with a 42% boost in NPU efficiency, ensuring robust AI capabilities.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI, introduced earlier this year, has received further enhancements with the launch of the new Galaxy devices. In addition to features like search circles and direct translation, the new Galaxy models deeply integrate Google’s AI-powered Gemini tool, allowing users to initiate voice-based searches directly from the home screen with the command “Hey, Google.”

The Galaxy Note feature now includes voice recording and transcription capabilities, allowing users to record and transcribe notes directly on the interface. The Sketch to Image feature transforms user sketches into smooth, AI-generated images.

Other key specifications of the Z Fold6 include 12 GB of RAM, storage options ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB, a 4,400 mAh battery, 25 W fast charging, and 15 W wireless charging. The battery and charging speeds remain unchanged from the previous generation.

In the Vietnamese market, the Z Fold6 will be available in three colors: Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy, with Navy being the hero color. The device is priced at 44, 48, and 55 million VND for the 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage options, respectively. Pre-orders will receive a gift package worth 12 million VND, and deliveries will start from July 27.

The Galaxy Z Flip6 takes a different approach, targeting young, modern users with features tailored for photography and content creation.

The device features a 3.4-inch external screen and a 6.7-inch main screen. Notable new features include Auto Zoom, which automatically adjusts the zoom level for optimal photo composition, and Suggested Replies, which uses AI to suggest responses to calls and messages.

The Z Flip6 also benefits from an improved folding mechanism and the same RAM and chip as the Z Fold6. The battery capacity has been upgraded from 3,700 mAh to 4,000 mAh, while the charging speed remains at 25W.

The camera has received a significant upgrade, now featuring a 50 MP resolution, a substantial improvement over the previous 12 MP camera. This enhancement supports content creation for social media platforms. Deep integration with apps like Instagram allows users to switch between different cameras and modes directly from the Instagram camera interface.

The Z Flip6’s secondary screen offers increased customization, including dynamic wallpapers that match the current weather conditions, such as rain or snow, and animated stickers.

The Z Flip6 comes in two storage options: 256 GB and 512 GB, priced at 29 million VND and 33 million VND, respectively. It will also be available starting July 27.
