The Rach Cay Kho Bridge construction project involves a 485-meter-long, 12.5-meter-wide bridge spanning Ong Lon Canal, connecting Pham Hung Street in Binh Chanh District with Nguyen Binh Street in Nha Be District.

The project commenced in 2018 with a total investment of approximately VND 500 billion and was expected to be completed by 2023. However, it faced delays due to land clearance issues.

According to our observations, after resolving the land-related challenges, the project has made significant progress, and the main components of the Rach Cay Kho Bridge are now taking shape.

The bridge is now equipped with handrails, lane markings, a fresh coat of paint, and completed sidewalks for pedestrians.

On the Nha Be District side, construction crews and machinery are working simultaneously on various tasks, including curb installation, residential roads, and bridge approaches.

According to the project owner, the road approach on the Nha Be District side has received sufficient land clearance since the end of 2023, and they have completed tasks such as land leveling, curb installation, and the construction of residential roads.

Upon completion, the Rach Cay Kho Bridge will serve as a vital transportation link between Binh Chanh and Nha Be Districts, providing a more convenient and shorter travel route for locals. The bridge will eliminate the need for residents to rely on ferries or take a lengthy 10-kilometer detour.

To ensure a seamless connection between the Rach Cay Kho Bridge and the surrounding roads, the People’s Committee of Nha Be District is seeking approval from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for a VND 800 billion investment to extend Pham Hung Street and connect it to the bridge. However, the existing 1-kilometer section of Pham Hung Street leading to the bridge has not been upgraded or widened, creating a lack of synchronization.

“As an immediate solution, the district will open a temporary road connecting to Nguyen Van Rang Street for the convenience of local residents,” said a representative of the People’s Committee of Nha Be District.
