August 1st marked the official handover of the first 99 VinFast mini SUV electric vehicles to Vietnamese customers. From now until the end of the year, the company plans to deliver approximately 20,000 vehicles out of nearly 28,000 orders that were confirmed in May.

This means that, on average, about 4,000 VinFast VF 3 vehicles will be sold each month from now until the end of the year. As a result, the sight of VinFast VF 3s with their compact design and colorful “rainbow” hues cruising through the streets of Vietnam will soon become a common occurrence.

This model boasts four basic colors: white, gray, red, and green, as well as five premium colors: yellow, blue, pink, purple-pink (these four colors come with a white roof), and light green. Customers also have the option to customize the color of their vehicle for an additional fee of 15 million VND.

Compared to the pre-production version at the factory a few months ago, the commercial version of the VinFast VF 3 has surprised many with its high level of refinement. Many people have commented that the vehicle’s details are even more meticulously and harmoniously designed than some of the company’s previous models.

The VF 3 has a compact design with a high roof and ground clearance, and its rugged details make it stand out and easily recognizable on the road. Its diverse range of bold colors also makes it appealing to various customer segments, including first-time car buyers, young families, or those who already own a car but want a stylish city cruiser.

These mini EVs with their colorful designs and customization options, such as color choices, vibrant decals, and interior/exterior modifications, are sure to make a statement on the streets. VinFast is embracing this trend, and it won’t be surprising if we start seeing VF 3s in all sorts of unique styles on the roads in the near future.

The interior design of the VF 3 is also commendable. Despite its small size, the VF 3 offers a spacious cabin that comfortably seats four adults. During a brief test drive of a few kilometers, the driver’s position felt roomy and offered good visibility. The tight turning radius is also an advantage, making it easy to maneuver in narrow streets or crowded areas. The vehicle’s 10-inch screen is even larger than that of the VF 5. The ride quality is smooth and quiet at city speeds, although the suspension feels a bit stiff at higher speeds of 60-70 km/h.

Most of the features are well-adjusted, including the air conditioning, mirrors, and seats. However, this level of simplicity also means that there are very few components that could potentially malfunction.

According to the manufacturer, the VF 3 has a power consumption of 83.3W/km, which means that for every kWh of electricity (approximately 4,000 VND), the vehicle can travel 12 kilometers, or 100 kilometers for less than 40,000 VND.

The VinFast VF 3 will be a key player in the company’s goal of achieving 80,000 vehicle sales this year. Additionally, this mini EV has the potential to accelerate VinFast’s expansion into Asian markets such as India, Thailand, and Indonesia if the company adopts strategic distribution approaches. For now, Vietnam remains the first and only market for the VinFast VF 3.
