African Friends Enjoy Their First Taste of Vietnamese Egg Bread
Hùng Kaka, currently living in Angola, recently whipped up a delicious Vietnamese treat for his friends on the farm. In his latest vlog, Hùng shared that he likes to cook Vietnamese dishes on weekends to boost his friends’ health and morale for the week ahead.
This time, he introduced them to a popular Vietnamese street food: egg bread. It’s a tasty and incredibly easy-to-make dish. For this weekend’s lunch, Hùng bought bread, cucumbers, onions, scallions, and coriander. He also collected over 30 fresh eggs from the farm.

Finely chopped scallions added to the mix.
Hùng skillfully chopped the onions and scallions, mixing them with the eggs and a dash of seasoning. One of his friends helped him fry the eggs while he sliced the cucumbers into thin, bite-sized pieces.
As the golden-brown eggs started sizzling, their aroma filled the air. Hùng then assembled the sandwiches, generously filling each bread with fried eggs, cucumbers, and coriander. The sandwiches were overflowing with delicious ingredients.
“I like to treat my friends to Vietnamese cuisine from time to time. This egg bread is not only delicious but also quick and easy to make. I bought extra bread so everyone could eat to their heart’s content. Otherwise, they’d only have cassava leaves and yams for dinner,” Hùng shared.

The sandwiches were stuffed with delicious fillings.
As the sandwiches were served, Hùng’s friends couldn’t help but nod in approval and dig in enthusiastically. Hùng mentioned that the addition of chili sauce would have taken the flavor to the next level, but it wasn’t available or was too expensive where he lived.
Delicious Bread, But No One Wanted More
After everyone had devoured two sandwiches, Hùng offered to make more so they could invite others to join. However, his friends declined, explaining that they wanted to save the remaining sandwiches for their wives and children at home.

Everyone enjoyed the sandwiches together.

First-timers loved the Vietnamese egg bread.

However, when offered a third sandwich, they politely refused.
“I could eat more, but I want to save the rest for my kids and wife at home,” one of them said. Another added, “I could probably eat five, but I’m thinking of my hungry kids waiting for me at home. My wife and kids have never tasted anything this good, so I want to share it with them.”
Hùng was deeply touched by their words and immediately divided the remaining sandwiches into portions of two for each person to take home. He also reminded them to take good care of their families. His friends were overjoyed and expressed their gratitude, saying their families would surely be delighted.

Each wanted to save some for their families.

Hùng divided the sandwiches so everyone could take some home.
As he watched his friends take sandwiches home to their loved ones, Hùng felt a twinge of sadness. He, too, wished he could bring tasty treats back to his family in Vietnam, but the journey home was arduous, involving multiple legs of travel by car and plane. Being away from his family was difficult, but he and his friends supported each other and stayed strong for their future.
