Hu Tieu is also the dish that Scottish super chef – Gordon Ramsay, who is also a judge on the Master Chef competition, has been “nostalgic” about for many years.

He said: “This is one of the best dishes I have ever tasted”.

Gordon Ramsay also shared memories of enjoying this special dish. He said he sat on a small boat at a floating fish market in Vietnam and enjoyed this extraordinary dish. The special Hu Tieu dish was cooked by an elderly woman but Gordon Ramsay was extremely impressed.

Gordon Ramsay loved the Vietnamese dish so much that he reminded the 4 contestants: “Make sure it’s delicious, because I have been waiting for many years to relive that memory. Don’t disappoint me.”

After tasting the broth of Hu Tieu, the 4 contestants felt overwhelmed by its unique flavor. All 4 contestants were extremely tense and took a lot of time in analyzing the ingredients in this Vietnamese dish.

“When choosing ingredients, that’s a difficult moment, because you have to carefully consider in your head, remember the flavors you feel in your mouth to make sure you can combine those flavors together”, shared Luca Manfe, one of the four contestants.

After 75 minutes of intense competition, only Luca Manfe’s broth recreated the authentic flavor of Vietnamese Hu Tieu. The remaining 3 bowls of Hu Tieu made by Natasha, Jessie Lysiak, and Krissi Biasiello were praised for their flavors, but some bowls were too sweet, some were too sour, and some were too spicy, causing the dish to lose its perfect balance.

Hu Tieu – a special dish that captivates many world-renowned chefs

Not only loved by super chef Gordon Ramsay, the Hu Tieu dish at the Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho, Vietnam has also captivated many other world-renowned chefs. In particular, we have to mention the famous chef from Korea – Jun Ho Kyun. After devouring a bowl of Hu Tieu, this chef highly praised its deliciousness and even asked the owner to go to his home to learn the “secret”.

Although Hu Tieu looks simple, it has a unique flavor and the ability to “wow” the taste buds, which is the key that makes the dish loved by many famous chefs.

To achieve these flavors, each bowl of Hu Tieu always receives great support from the abundant and fresh local ingredients of the Southwest region of Vietnam, such as cilantro, mint, bean sprouts, chives, boiled meat, pig’s feet… In addition, the traditional way of making Hu Tieu noodles in the villages also contributes to the soul of transforming a popular dish into a heavenly delicacy.
