Electric Vehicle VF 3: Home Charging Convenience Customers Crave

The VinFast VF 3 electric car offers a convenient and eco-friendly option for drivers with its home-charging capability. With the upcoming release of a home charger by the manufacturer, expected to be available in August, charging your VF 3 at home will be a breeze.

Since its price announcement and opening of bookings in May, the VinFast VF3 has become a phenomenon in the Vietnamese automotive industry, receiving 27,000 orders within just 66 hours of its launch. After 3 months, the first units of this mini electric car have been delivered to customers in Vietnam.

Aside from its design and features, many users are curious about charging options for the VF3. Temporarily, it won’t be possible to charge the car using an AC home charger; instead, it must be charged using DC chargers at VinFast’s public charging stations or third-party locations.

To address the need for home charging, VinFast has announced plans to introduce a home charger for the VF3 (with AC-to-DC conversion functionality) in August, although the price has not yet been disclosed.

Thus, there are two options for charging this electric car: using VinFast’s official charging stations with 30kWh or higher (DC charging), or purchasing a dedicated charger for the VF3, which comes with an AC-DC conversion system, allowing charging at home or with a standard AC 220v supply.

The VF 3 can be charged at home, but not with the chargers used for the VF5, VF6, VF7, VF8, or VF9. Instead, it requires a dedicated charger provided by VinFast.

AC home charging offers the convenience of not having to travel to a charging station and the ability to charge overnight, saving time. However, its drawback is that the power supply typically has a lower capacity. On the other hand, DC fast charging can provide very high power levels of 350-360 kW, but it is limited to public charging stations, requiring scheduling for charging sessions.

The VF3 is VinFast’s first small-sized urban electric car, featuring a 2-door design with a boxy shape. Its dimensions are 3,190 mm in length, 1,679 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height. With a long wheelbase of 2,075 mm, the car’s interior comfortably accommodates four adults. The 16-inch wheels provide a generous 191 mm of ground clearance.

Equipped with a powerful battery, the VF3 offers a maximum range of 215 km on a single charge. The fast-charging capability allows charging from 10% to 70% in just 36 minutes. The electric motor delivers a maximum output of 30 kW and a peak torque of 110 Nm, coupled with rear-wheel drive (RWD) for a brisk 0-50 km/h acceleration in 5.3 seconds.

The VF3 comes with a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a gear shift lever behind the steering wheel. It also features a driver-side airbag, front disc brakes, and advanced safety technologies such as ABS, emergency brake assist, and hill-start assist.

The VF3 is available at a price of VND 240 million for the battery leasing option, while the price including the battery is VND 322 million. With the leasing option, customers pay a monthly fee of VND 900,000 for mileage below 1,500 km, VND 1,200,000 for mileage between 1,500 and 2,500 km, and VND 2,000,000 for mileage exceeding 2,500 km.
