Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed Decision No. 790/QD-TTg approving the Binh Duong Province Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.

The master plan sets out that by 2030, Binh Duong will have three cities meeting the criteria for Type I cities, namely Thu Dau Mot City, Di An City, and Thuan An City; two cities meeting the criteria for Type II cities, Tan Uyen City and Ben Cat City; and one town meeting the criteria for a Type IV town, Bau Bang district. Additionally, three other towns will achieve Type IV city status: Tan Thanh town in Bac Tan Uyen district, Phuoc Vinh town in Phu Giao district, and Dau Tieng town in Dau Tieng district. The province also aims to establish new urban areas in Bac Tan Uyen, Phu Giao, and Dau Tieng districts, with an urbanization rate of approximately 88%-90%.

The northern provinces of Binh Duong will see the development of new-generation industrial parks

The master plan divides the province’s development into three dynamic spatial zones. Zone 1 comprises Thuan An and Di An cities, focusing on urban redevelopment and the relocation of outdated and environmentally polluting industries to the province’s northern regions. This zone will utilize available space for new urban models based on TOD orientation and the addition of social infrastructure to transform Thuan An and Di An into modern cities with a high quality of life.

Zone 2 includes Thu Dau Mot City, Tan Uyen City, Ben Cat City, and Bau Bang district. This zone will leverage innovation, advanced technology, community services, and smart urban development as pillars for provincial growth.

Zone 3 encompasses Bac Tan Uyen, Phu Giao, and Dau Tieng districts, where new-generation industrial parks will be established alongside eco-friendly urban-industrial-service models. This zone will also focus on preserving and developing ecological corridors along the Saigon, Dong Nai, and Thi Tinh rivers, increasing green coverage, and promoting renewable energy.

The master plan also emphasizes the development of Binh Duong’s urban space in association with Ho Chi Minh City’s central urban region, forming an urban area with a synchronized and modern infrastructure framework.

In the southern region, Di An and Thuan An will transform into regional commercial and logistics service centers, while Thu Dau Mot will become a comprehensive support services and innovation hub. Ben Cat and Tan Uyen will develop into modern industrial-service cities.
