Vietnam’s VinFast has just launched its VF 3 model in early August, and it’s already making waves in the local market. The electric vehicle has captured the attention of Vietnamese consumers and is now set to make its way overseas.
VinFast Philippines has confirmed that the VF 3 will be available in the country, with social media channels like Facebook and Instagram teasing the small electric car. The brand is building on the success it has seen in its home market, where the VF 3 recorded an impressive 27,649 orders within 66 hours of its launch.
The VF 3 will join its siblings, the VF e34, VF 5, VF 7, and VF 9, in the Philippine market—the second most populous country in Southeast Asia. This expansion showcases VinFast’s commitment to bringing its innovative vehicles to a wider audience.
The VF 3, a made-in-Vietnam mini electric car, has generated a lot of interest since its initial announcement. VinFast took just three months to perfect the vehicle from the testing phase, showcasing the company’s efficiency and production capabilities.
Despite its small size, the VF 3 has a substantial presence with dimensions of 3,190 x 1,679 x 1,652 mm (length x width x height). It features a unique 2-door, 4-seater configuration and a wheelbase of 2,075 mm, offering a comfortable and spacious interior.
The VF 3 comes with essential features, including halogen exterior lights, 16-inch steel wheels, and manually adjustable side mirrors. However, it impresses with a 10-inch infotainment screen. Safety features include anti-lock brakes, emergency brake assist, hill-start assist, front disc brakes, and a single airbag.
In addition to its design and features, customers are also curious about charging options. Currently, the VF 3 cannot be charged at home using AC power and must be charged at public DC charging stations, including those operated by VinFast or third parties.
To address home charging needs, VinFast plans to introduce a home charger for the VF 3 in August. This charger will convert AC power to DC, allowing customers to charge their vehicles at home. According to leaked information, the portable charger is expected to be priced at 6 million VND.
The VF 3 is available with a battery rental option for 240 million VND or with a battery purchase option for 322 million VND. With the rental option, customers pay a monthly fee based on their mileage: 900,000 VND for less than 1,500 km, 1,200,000 VND for 1,500 to 2,500 km, and 2,000,000 VND for more than 2,500 km.
