Ho Chi Minh City’s District 11 hosted the first stable sales mobile point as part of the “Connecting Consumption – Spreading Love” Mobile Sales – Market Stabilization Program for 2024. The event took place on August 6, 2024, at Duong Dinh Nghe Park, District 11, with the participation of 9 enterprises, offering 40 product categories and 500 types of products to around 300,000 people, attracting 100,000 visitors and 50,000 shoppers.

Well-known brands in the fields of production and distribution showcased their products, including Wilmar Marketing CLV, Procter & Gambel Vietnam, Binh Tay Food Joint Stock Company, Suntory Pepsico Vietnam Beverage Company, Saigon Co.op, and MM Mega Market Vietnam.

The program will organize mobile sales at 15 locations in Ho Chi Minh City, including industrial parks, export processing zones, parks, and cultural venues in both inner and outer districts. It is expected to generate revenue in the billions of VND over a 30-day period, from now until September 5, 2024, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Women’s Union, the Labor Union, the Management Board of Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks, the People’s Committee of Thu Duc City, and district-level authorities.

One of the key objectives of the program, as shared by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee leadership during the launch, is to ensure that “there is no opportunity for essential consumer goods prices to increase along with wages.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, emphasized that through this market stabilization program, workers can access essential goods at stable prices, which also contributes to promoting production and consumption. He added that the program ensures that everyone in Ho Chi Minh City, especially those facing challenges, can purchase a wide range of essential consumer goods at stable prices. This initiative is aligned with the government’s efforts to improve the lives of workers and employees by increasing salaries, and it effectively prevents price hikes that could negate the impact of wage increases.

In addition to discounts of up to 60-80%, customers who make payments through e-wallets such as ZaloPay, VNPAY, and MoMo also receive discount codes worth up to 50,000 VND each.

Ms. Tran Kim Nga, Director of External Relations at MM Mega Market, shared that due to the challenging economic situation, consumers are tightening their spending. MM Mega Market maintains stable prices and focuses on essential consumer goods, running promotions and highlighting the company’s private labels.

Ms. Phan Thi Nhan, a local resident who learned about and shopped at the market stabilization event at Duong Dinh Nghe Park, District 11, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to purchase goods at stable and affordable prices, which helps stretch her limited income. She hopes for more such initiatives to improve the lives of residents.

According to Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, previous promotional programs in the city focused on traditional, modern, and online trade channels. One of the key activities of these centralized promotions was to offer discounts on branded goods, making them more accessible to low-income earners.

This activity also contributes to building Ho Chi Minh City’s shopping brand, attracting tourists and international visitors to experience the city’s shopping offerings.

A highlight of the program was the collaboration between the organizers, local authorities, and industrial park management to present 300 “Baskets of Love” to female workers and those with difficult circumstances.
