Article 49 of the Law on Credit Institutions stipulates the public disclosure of information regarding shareholders owning 1% or more of a credit institution’s charter capital. In compliance with this regulation, BVBank discloses the list of shareholders owning 1% or more of its charter capital as of July 30, 2024, based on the information provided by the shareholders to the bank.

According to this list, BVBank does not have any institutional shareholders owning 1% or more of its charter capital. Instead, there are nine individual shareholders holding a total of nearly 17.8%, and they are all leaders of the bank. Including related parties, BVBank’s leaders own nearly 20% of the bank’s capital.

With a shareholding ratio of nearly 4.56% (nearly 23 million shares), Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phuong is the largest individual shareholder among the disclosed group.

Ranking second in BVBank share ownership is Ngo Quang Trung, Member of the Board of Directors and General Director, with over 3.12%, equivalent to nearly 16 million shares. In third place is Le Anh Tai, Chairman of the Board of Directors, with a 2.86% stake. Nguyen Nhat Nam, a Member of the Board of Directors, holds nearly 1%, and his related parties hold over 1%.

Additionally, four Deputy General Directors, namely Le Van Be Muoi, Van Thanh Khanh Linh, Phan Viet Hai, and Nguyen Thanh Tu, each own between 1% and 1.5% of the bank’s shares. Related parties of Mr. Tu also hold 0.76% of the capital.

Moreover, Ly Cong Nha, Director of Finance and Chief Accountant of BVBank, holds over 1% of the capital, equivalent to more than 5 million BVB shares.

A comparison with the shareholding structure disclosed in the semi-annual governance report of 2021 reveals that Ms. Phuong’s shareholding ratio in BVBank has remained relatively stable. Specifically, as of June 30, 2021, she held 4.45%, corresponding to over 16.3 million BVB shares.

Prior to establishing this bank, which bears her name, Ms. Phuong served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer of Holcim Vietnam, a joint venture with the Swiss multinational company Holcim, one of the largest foreign investors in Vietnam at that time. She also held the position of Investment Director at Vietnam Holding Fund.

Ms. Phuong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from the National Economics University in Hanoi. She has also completed a Master’s program in Financial Management at the International University in Geneva, Switzerland.

She joined Bank Viet as a Member of the Board of Directors in 2011 and served as Chairman of the Board from early 2012 to April 2013. Her successor as Chairman was Le Anh Tai.

Nguyen Thanh Phuong also serves as a founding member of Viet Capital Asset Management and Viet Capital Securities. She has been the Chairman of these two companies since 2007. Additionally, she is a Member of the Board of Directors at Viet Capital Real Estate Joint Stock Company, Good Day Hospitality Joint Stock Company, and Phoenix Holdings Limited Company.

Phoenix Holdings is a diversified investment company with interests in finance, technology, retail, and consumer sectors, currently holding a charter capital of VND 600 billion.
