Promoting the Development of Vietnam’s Semiconductor Industry

According to the Decision, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will serve as the head of the Steering Committee.

The Deputy Heads include: Minister of Planning and Investment (permanent Deputy Head); and Minister of Information and Communications.

The members of the Steering Committee comprise the ministers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Education and Training; Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Industry and Trade; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Justice; Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; and Ministry of Transport.

Functions and Tasks of the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development

The Steering Committee is an inter-sectoral coordinating organization that assists the Government and the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating solutions to important inter-sectoral issues related to promoting the development of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.

The Steering Committee is responsible for researching, consulting, recommending, and proposing orientations and solutions to promote the development of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry. It also directs and coordinates between ministries, ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies, and relevant organizations to support the growth of the semiconductor industry in the country.

The Steering Committee operates on a part-time basis, emphasizing personal responsibility and executing its rights and responsibilities according to the Regulations on the Organization and Operation of the Steering Committee.

The Head of the Steering Committee uses the seal of the Prime Minister, while the Deputy Heads and members use the seals of their respective managing ministries.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment serves as the permanent office of the Steering Committee, utilizing its existing apparatus to perform the tasks assigned by the Steering Committee.
