Mr. Le Ngoc Minh, a resident of Thanh Hoa, recently purchased a Toyota Corolla Cross gasoline model with a listed price of 820 million VND. However, his joy was short-lived as he soon discovered a problem with his new vehicle.

Strange Vehicle Delivery

According to Mr. Minh, the Corolla Cross was delivered to him on the afternoon of July 25 at the Toyota Thanh Hoa dealership. After taking a quick look at the exterior, he attempted to sit in the passenger seat, but was stopped by the salesperson, who suggested that he only needed to sit in the driver’s seat for inspection.

“Since this was a new car and my family already had another vehicle, I temporarily stored the Corolla Cross. I used the car on the following Monday (July 29) and took it to get the license plate installed at a garage,” shared the car owner.

While waiting for the car to be washed and the license plate to be installed, a technician informed him of a large tear in the passenger-side door panel.

“I immediately called the dealership consultant to report the issue and was asked to come in for an inspection the following weekend,” Mr. Minh recounted.

Dealership’s Response

On Saturday, August 3, Mr. Minh arrived at the dealership for the scheduled inspection.

“I waited for over an hour before a technician came and told me that the car had been inspected by the manufacturer and that the dealership was not responsible for any issues once the car left the showroom. I was about to leave, feeling frustrated, but then I insisted on meeting with the showroom manager,” he shared.

“Subsequently, another consultant came out and stated that since the car had left the showroom over seven days ago, they could not accommodate the customer’s request. However, as this person was not the showroom manager, I refused to proceed and continued to wait,” shared the car owner.

“When they saw that I was still waiting, the salesperson initially claimed that the manager was in a meeting. After another hour, they said the manager was away. When I asked for the manager’s hotline number, the receptionist said they didn’t have it, even though it was displayed on the decals of the displayed cars.

Eventually, I was led upstairs to the manager’s office by a staff member. I found the manager’s personal belongings there but no sign of the manager. When I finally reached the manager, they said they were away on a business trip and that everything would be handled according to the procedure. Feeling disappointed, I left,” Mr. Minh narrated.

When we contacted the Toyota Thanh Hoa dealership’s hotline to verify the incident, the showroom staff declined to comment over the phone.

Unusual Circumstances

Mr. Le Ngoc Minh shared that when he made the deposit, the consultant told him he would receive a discount of 10 million VND and some free accessories. However, on the day he received the car, he was informed of an additional discount of 5 million VND.

“At first, I thought the dealership was being generous, but then I realized there was a reason for everything,” added Mr. Minh.

The car owner pointed out another suspicious detail: when he received the car, all the plastic wrap, stickers, and seals on the car had already been removed.

After failing to resolve the issue with the dealership, Mr. Le Ngoc Minh has now contacted Toyota Vietnam directly and is awaiting a response.
