A bird’s-eye view of the planned locations for the five overpasses in Ho Chi Minh City, aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity across the city.

The Ngã tư Bốn Xã intersection, located in both Bình Tân and Tân Phú districts, is set to undergo a significant transformation with a planned investment of 2.4 trillion VND (approximately 99.2 million USD). This includes 2.1 trillion VND allocated for site clearance, making it the most expensive project among the five intersections. The overpass is expected to stretch along the Lê Văn Quới – Hòa Bình route, measuring 280 meters in length and 12 meters in width, accommodating two-way traffic. While the city approved the project back in 2016, it has faced delays due to a lack of funding.

A snapshot of the busy Ngã tư Bốn Xã intersection, where heavy traffic and narrow roads often lead to congestion. The planned overpass will help alleviate this issue, providing a much-needed boost to the city’s infrastructure.

Two critical intersections in the heart of the city, Ngã bảy Điện Biên Phủ – Ngô Gia Tự – Lý Thái Tổ – Lê Hồng Phong (District 3 and 10) and Ngã sáu Nguyễn Tri Phương – Ngô Gia Tự – Nguyễn Chí Thanh (District 5 and 10), are set for an upgrade. With a constant stream of vehicles even outside peak hours, these intersections are notorious for traffic jams. The image showcases the busy Ngã sáu Nguyễn Tri Phương intersection.

Each of the aforementioned intersections will receive an investment of 400 billion VND to construct overpasses, reducing the current level of intersection. The direction of the bridge branches will be carefully calculated during the project’s research phase.

The National Highway 1 – Road No. 7 intersection is slated for a major upgrade, with plans for either an overpass or an underground tunnel. The structure will span 400 meters in length and accommodate two to four lanes for two-way traffic between Road No. 7 and Road No. 8.

The northern gateway intersection of Nguyễn Oanh and Phan Văn Trị is another traffic hotspot, with a proposed overpass project costing 400 billion VND. The overpass will stretch for 500 meters, featuring two to four lanes for two-way traffic along Nguyễn Oanh Street.

Upon completion, these overpass projects will enhance traffic flow, reduce vehicle conflicts and accidents, and ultimately improve the quality of life for residents by reducing noise and air pollution caused by traffic congestion.

Additionally, the projects will boost Ho Chi Minh City’s economic development by improving connectivity and facilitating trade and business activities. Infrastructure development often leads to increased property values and attracts investors to the area.
