Recently, the Facebook page of Son Hai Corporation shared a post from their Chairman, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai. The chairman of this renowned corporation shared photos of a memorial service held for Bruce Lee, along with reflections on the talented individual whose life was cut short at the peak of his career.
In his post, Chairman Hai wrote: “Today marks the 51st anniversary of Bruce Lee’s passing on July 20, 1973, which was the 21st of June in the lunar calendar. Since then, the world has not seen another martial artist who has attained such a level of mastery as him. To honor this legendary figure, the leadership and family of Son Hai Corporation organized a memorial service for him on the afternoon of the 21st of June in the year of the Dragon.

Prior to this, despite his reputation as a reserved businessman, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai surprised many by openly sharing a post on his personal page about his passion for martial arts and his admiration for Bruce Lee. In this post, Chairman Hai confessed to being a huge fan of the late martial artist. The renowned businessman attributed his fascination to Bruce Lee’s strong martial arts spirit, unwavering determination, and unique philosophy on life.

As a testament to his admiration for Bruce Lee, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai personally visited the late martial artist’s grave in March 2014 and received martial arts instruction from Mr. Taky Kimura, a Japanese martial arts master and Bruce Lee’s closest friend.
Additionally, Chairman Hai has attended award ceremonies for traditional Vietnamese martial arts competitions in Quang Binh and has been a long-time sponsor of the Quang Binh Open Karate Championship, for which the Son Hai Corporation Cup is named.

Son Hai Corporation is renowned as a reputable infrastructure contractor in Vietnam and is the only company in the country that offers a 5- to 10-year quality warranty on their road construction and hydropower projects.
The corporation’s success is closely tied to the leadership of Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai (born in 1966 in Sen village, Hoa Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province), who currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Hai rarely appears in the media to discuss himself or the achievements of Son Hai Corporation. Therefore, his recent post about his admiration for Bruce Lee came as a surprise to many.

Bruce Lee (Chinese name: Lee Jun-fan; 1940-1973) was a Chinese-American martial artist, actor, and filmmaker. He is credited with creating Jeet Kune Do, a martial arts philosophy that combines elements from various combat disciplines and is often regarded as a pioneer of modern mixed martial arts.
He has been hailed by critics, media, and fellow martial artists as the most influential martial artist of all time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century.
At the age of 13, Bruce Lee began studying Wing Chun under the tutelage of Ip Man. He later trained in a variety of other martial arts styles, including Hung Gar, Shaolin, Choy Li Fut, and White Crane, in addition to Western boxing and fencing. This broad knowledge formed the basis for his later creation of Jeet Kune Do.
In 1959, Bruce Lee’s family moved to the United States. He enrolled in university in 1960, and during his studies, he dedicated himself to martial arts research and founded the Chinese Kung Fu Research Club at his school.
In addition to diligently practicing Chinese martial arts, Bruce Lee explored Western boxing and fencing. This diverse background laid the foundation for his eventual creation of Jeet Kune Do.
By his second year of university, Bruce Lee had rented a corner of the school’s parking lot and hung a sign that read “Chuan Fan Country Kung Fu Club“. During this time, he rigorously trained in martial arts and taught his skills to students. It was also here that he met Linda Emery, a young woman who came to learn martial arts, and they eventually developed a romantic relationship. They married in 1964 and later focused on running the Country Kung Fu Club together.
In the summer of 1971, Bruce Lee accepted an offer to star in films. He went on to star in several notable films, including The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon, Enter the Dragon…

Bruce Lee’s presence in the film industry changed the landscape of Chinese martial arts cinema and paved the way for Chinese actors in Hollywood. However, at the peak of his career, with numerous large-scale film projects in the works, Bruce Lee suddenly passed away in Hong Kong on July 20, 1973, just shy of his 33rd birthday. He was later buried in Seattle, USA.
In 1999, Bruce Lee was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
