On August 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online meeting with Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces regarding the progress of the 500 kV power line Project, spanning from Quang Trach to Pho Noi. The aim is to complete the remaining tasks and inaugurate the entire project by the upcoming August Revolution and National Day celebrations.

According to reports from the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and discussions during the meeting, the project has been relatively well-executed so far, with a significant portion completed. Only a handful of challenging tasks remain, primarily in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, which present the most difficulties in implementation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the project’s critical importance in enhancing the country’s power transmission capacity, ensuring proactive and flexible management, balancing electricity supply across regions, and guaranteeing national energy security. It also ensures sufficient electricity for production, business, and consumption.

The project, with a total length of approximately 519 kilometers, passes through nine provinces and features large-scale construction. The tallest tower stands at 145 meters, and the heaviest weighs a massive 415 tons. Construction has endured harsh weather conditions, including cold and hot spells, storms, and floods, especially in the central region, often referred to as the “rain pocket and fire pan.” The terrain also poses significant challenges.

While the remaining work is not extensive, it is complex. The Prime Minister instructed all relevant agencies, units, localities, and forces to demonstrate even greater determination, effort, and focus during this final sprint. He emphasized the goal of completing the project before September 2 and holding the inauguration during this year’s National Day celebrations.

Specific tasks were assigned: the Ministry of Industry and Trade was instructed to continue leading and coordinating with other agencies to regularly monitor and supervise the project, promptly addressing any issues, and conducting acceptance procedures in accordance with legal regulations.

The Ministry of National Defense was tasked with directing the 3rd and 4th Military Zones to collaborate with EVN in reviewing and mobilizing technical forces, machinery, equipment, and personnel to support construction. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will provide guidance on adjusting forest use purposes as per regulations.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will offer guidance on environmental protection and ensure restoration upon project completion. The Ministry of Home Affairs will coordinate with other ministries, sectors, and localities to propose appropriate commendations for all levels that actively participated in project implementation.

Localities are expected to continue providing human resources support, with the People’s Committees of Nghe An and Ha Tinh coordinating closely with EVN and relevant agencies to finalize the remaining tasks. Local police forces will ensure security and order at construction sites.
