24-hour construction at the T3 Terminal mega-project

Workers are toiling day and night at the massive T3 Terminal construction site.

The T3 Terminal project, with a total investment of over VND 10,000 billion and an area of over 100,000 m2, is accelerating its construction to connect to the road crossing Tan Son Nhat Airport.

On August 13, the T3 Terminal Project Management Board announced that the contractor has completed the rough construction and is expediting progress as required by the Prime Minister to be operational by April 30, 2025.

Inside the T3 Terminal, over 2,500 workers and engineers, along with hundreds of machines and equipment, are working around the clock in 3 shifts and 4 teams to meet the deadline.

Despite unpredictable weather conditions, the T3 Terminal construction site remains bustling with the sound of machinery and the dedicated work of engineers and workers from morning till night.

Since the end of May 2024, the contractor has accelerated the installation of steel structures, glass walls, and roofing in a rolling manner.

Mr. Le Khac Hong, Director of the T3 Terminal Project Management Board, shared that according to the initial schedule, the project was expected to be operational by the end of June 2025. However, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Van Nen, have requested the investor to expedite the progress to complete the project two months earlier, in time for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification.

The T3 Terminal workers’ work process is strictly controlled, ensuring full compliance with technical requirements.

The T3 Terminal construction project at Tan Son Nhat Airport consists of four main items: the passenger terminal, a multi-story parking lot combined with non-aviation services, an elevated bridge in front of the terminal, and an aircraft parking lot, with a total investment of over VND 10,000 billion.

The project commenced on August 31, 2023. As of now, the passenger terminal’s concrete structure is 100% complete, and the architectural construction is 85% complete. The multi-story parking lot and non-aviation services have achieved 100% completion in concrete structure and 75% in architectural construction.

The mechanical and electrical works have reached 100% completion in concrete structure, and the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment is 100% finished. The aircraft parking lot and elevated bridge are expected to be completed by the end of February 2025.

On August 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that due to the tight timeline, relevant units must provide more decisive leadership and closer supervision while promptly addressing any issues that may arise to ensure the project’s progress and quality.

Upon the T3 Terminal’s operation, the Prime Minister stressed the need for synchronous connectivity and well-organized traffic within the airport and the urban road system to prevent congestion. To facilitate users and reduce operating manpower, it is necessary to promote digitization and invest in smart management and monitoring systems.

Once completed, the T3 Terminal will be a domestic passenger terminal with a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, serving 7,000 passengers per peak hour, accommodating all types of Code C and Code E aircraft, and fundamentally resolving the congestion issue at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
