The VinFast VF 3 is arguably the most talked-about car in the Vietnamese market. According to the manufacturer, the VF 3 attracted 27,649 orders within just 66 hours of deposit. If VinFast can deliver all 20,000 units by the end of the year, the VF 3 is likely to be the best-selling model of 2024.

Consumers are drawn to the VF 3 for various reasons, including its attractive design and incredibly low price. It’s worth mentioning that due to its affordable price tag, the manufacturer has omitted or simplified certain features, leading some owners to take their cars straight to the garage for modifications instead of driving them home.

Since the first deliveries on August 1st, VF 3 modifications and custom builds have been frequently shared and discussed on social media.

The most popular modification for the VF 3 seems to be wheel rims. As the original model comes with basic rims, many owners have opted to add rim faces or replace them with more intricate designs, ranging from multi-spoke to JDM-style rims.

In addition to rims, many owners have chosen to upgrade the lighting system, as the original halogen lights are not ideal for low-light conditions. Some modification shops have even figured out how to install LED light bars, similar to those on other VinFast models.

Given its SUV-like design, some garages have emphasized the “SUV-ness” of the VF 3 in their modifications.

A notable example is the yellow VF 3 by PERfamily, which features JDM-style rims and spacers (commonly seen on SUV/truck modifications to improve lateral stability). These changes make the rims stand out and give the car a more robust overall appearance.

In addition to aesthetic modifications, some modifiers have also sought to improve the car’s practicality. One example is the addition of a front trunk, as the original model has a plastic hood with no opening mechanism.

A modifier has designed a cover for the electronic components, leaving a storage space. However, they will need to devise a more convenient hood opening mechanism and reinforce or adapt the original plastic hood to accommodate this design.

Another notable modification involves cutting the roof to install a sunroof. Unlike the previous examples, this modification directly alters the body of the car. With the addition of the sunroof, the modifier will need to reinforce the car’s frame, especially the area supporting the sunroof, as it adds significant weight and requires reinforcement for safety reasons.

However, it’s important for owners to remember that modifications must comply with legal requirements, and above all, ensure the safety of the driver, passengers, and other road users.
