On August 15, Vietlott, the leading lottery company in Vietnam, awarded a jackpot prize of nearly VND 229 billion to Mr. M.T., a Viettel subscriber.
Mr. M.T. shared that he has a daily habit of purchasing a few Vietlott lottery numbers for entertainment and good luck. “With the winnings, I will share a portion with my family and use the remaining amount for business ventures,” he said.
Mr. M.T. receives the jackpot prize worth VND 228.8 billion.
Mr. M.T. is a resident of Ho Chi Minh City but registered his lottery ticket in Binh Dinh province. After receiving the prize, he paid personal income tax of over VND 22.8 billion to the Binh Dinh provincial budget.
Prior to the prize ceremony, Vietlott verified Mr. M.T.’s winning ticket through their lottery database and personal documentation. Mr. M.T. generously donated VND 2.76 billion towards social welfare programs.
In the first six months of the year, Vietlott recorded a revenue of VND 3,250 billion, a 33% increase compared to the same period last year. In 2023, the company’s pre-tax profit exceeded VND 300 billion, the highest in the past five years. In addition to their lottery business, Vietlott’s profits are also boosted by interest earned on over VND 1,000 billion deposited in banks.
Vietlott was established in 2011 under the Prime Minister’s decision and is directly managed by the Ministry of Finance. The company operates in organizing and conducting computerized lottery and other entertainment prize games nationwide, in accordance with Vietnamese law.
