Thus far, the Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway project has disbursed approximately 53.25% of the capital allocated for 2024. The contractors are expediting construction with the goal of completing the Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway project by April 30, 2025, eight months ahead of the initial schedule of December 2025.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Lam remarked that the Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway project is leading in progress among the 12 expressway component projects being implemented nationwide. He emphasized that the investor and contractors need to efficiently utilize the cleared construction area and favorable weather to accelerate progress and put the project into operation as per the Prime Minister’s directive.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Transport requested that the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province direct the local authorities and related departments to coordinate closely and support the investor in resolving land clearance issues as soon as possible for the remaining structures.

Land clearance work for the project is almost complete for the main route of the expressway. However, there are still about 2.4 kilometers that cannot be fully constructed due to technical infrastructure obstacles and some complexities in land clearance.

The Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway project commenced in January 2023, with a total length of 83.35 kilometers and a total investment of up to VND 11,808 billion, passing through four localities of Khanh Hoa, including Van Ninh with 32.255 kilometers, Ninh Hoa with 28.982 kilometers, Dien Khanh with 14.88 kilometers, and Khanh Vinh with 7.235 kilometers.

The Machine Behind the Rapid Construction of the Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway

The machine currently in use on the Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway construction site is the Power Curber 5700-D, a product of American origin and considered the best-selling machine of its kind globally. This equipment enables engineers and workers to construct the central divider autonomously, significantly enhancing productivity.

This machine specializes in casting curb and gutter, with a maximum height of up to 1.5 meters, making it suitable for expressway, national highway, provincial highway, urban road, and industrial park construction. Additionally, the machine is capable of paving cement concrete roads with widths ranging from 2 to 3 meters, while also performing other tasks such as creating ditches and drainage channels.

The Power Curber 5700-D is praised for its perfect blend of powerful performance and high speed. With its compact size, the machine is not only easy to maintain but also safe to operate.

Under human control, this machine glides smoothly along the road, creating seamless concrete dividers of uniform quality and high aesthetic value. Consequently, construction time is reduced, and labor productivity is significantly enhanced. With this equipment, constructing dividers on expressways has become simpler and more efficient than ever before.

At the Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway construction site, Engineer Nguyen Thanh Dong shared that the construction unit has applied new technology with fully imported machinery, helping to save costs and ensure safer construction of the automatic central divider.
