General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam and his spouse arrived in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, on August 18 at 9:27 am local time, beginning a state visit to the People’s Republic of China at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and his spouse.

The Vietnamese delegation was welcomed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport by Wang Weizhong, Guangdong Provincial Governor, Sun Zhiyang, Mayor of Guangzhou City, and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo.
Representing Vietnam were Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai and his spouse, Vietnamese Consul General in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung and his spouse, along with several Consulate officials and Vietnamese community members in Guangzhou.
The airport was brightly decorated with the national flags of both Vietnam and China. Two rows of honor guards lined the red carpet, and Wang Weizhong, along with other Guangdong officials, warmly greeted General Secretary and President To Lam and his delegation.
As per the schedule, in Guangzhou, General Secretary and President To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and the Vietnamese delegation, will visit the Huanghuagang Park Cemetery to pay tribute at the tomb of patriotic martyr Pham Hong Thai. They will also visit the relic site of the Headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam.
General Secretary and President To Lam will hold a meeting with a Guangdong Provincial leader and interact with Chinese friendship representatives.
