The Binh Duong Province Department of Transport has proposed to the Provincial People’s Committee to increase the maximum speed limit on the My Phuoc – Tan Van road from the TBS Logistics Warehouse to DT.741. This stretch of road passes through three of Binh Duong’s most bustling cities: Di An, Thuan An, and Thu Dau Mot, and has a high population density. Many are concerned about the feasibility of this proposal given the heavy traffic and frequent tragic accidents in the area.
Specifically, the Department has suggested raising the speed limit for cars, small passenger cars with up to 30 seats, and trucks with a payload of up to 3.5 tons to 70km/h from the current 60km/h on the lane closest to the median barrier. The speed limit for all other lanes will remain unchanged.
In addition, the Department plans to install new speed limit signs for motorcycles, including electric motorcycles and similar vehicles, setting their maximum speed at 40km/h.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thuan, Deputy Director of the Binh Duong Province Department of Transport, assured that the Department has proposed several solutions to ensure traffic safety along the My Phuoc – Tan Van road. These include traffic signal control at intersections, median modifications for additional turn lanes and signal phases, and road markings to guide vehicles through intersections.
Additionally, the Department plans to coordinate the closure of four median openings along the road, remove the roundabout at the intersection of My Phuoc – Tan Van and Vo Van Kiet roads in Dinh Hoa Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, and implement traffic signal control with dedicated turn lanes and road markings.
Previously, the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee agreed with the Department’s proposal to adjust the speed limit on the My Phuoc-Tan Van road in Ben Cat Town. The new speed limits for this section are as follows: for cars, lane 1 (on the right) is 60km/h, lane 2 (the middle lane) is 70km/h, and lane 3 (on the left) is 80km/h. The speed limit for motorcycles is set at 60km/h.
The speed limit adjustment on this particular stretch of road has been well-received by both residents and businesses, as the road is wide with 6-10 lanes, but the population density is low, and traffic is not heavy. The previous speed limit was causing time inefficiencies for businesses, especially considering that this road is a vital link between industrial parks and ports.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thuan, the Department is also reviewing inter-provincial routes to reassess and adjust speed limits where necessary.
Binh Duong: Land prices to increase up to 247% from current prices.
If passed, the proposed Resolution will result in an increase in land prices in Binh Duong province, ranging from a minimum of 11% to a maximum of 247% compared to the current prices. This adjustment is aimed at aligning the land prices with the current reality, as some communes are upgraded to wards and towns.
