The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid boasts significant enhancements.

The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid enters a competitive market, going up against the likes of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross, Hyundai Stargazer X, and Toyota Veloz Cross. With a price of 599 million VND, the Hyundai Stargazer X is the closest competitor in terms of pricing. The Mitsubishi Xpander Cross and Toyota Veloz Cross are priced higher at 698 million VND and 638 million VND, respectively.

What’s New in the XL7 Hybrid?

The XL7 Hybrid is a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, the XL7, retaining the same overall design but with some subtle exterior changes. These include a larger front logo, black-painted alloy wheels, and new color options, including a two-tone color scheme. The LED headlights now feature automatic on/off functionality and navigation-ready lights. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with power-folding mirrors.

On the inside, the XL7 Hybrid features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The instrument cluster has been refined, and the vehicle retains its key features, including manually adjustable fabric seats, single-zone automatic climate control, and push-button start.

Under the hood, the XL7 Hybrid is powered by the same 1.5L engine found in the Ertiga, paired with an electric motor and a small lithium-ion battery for improved acceleration. The engine produces 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle’s battery is backed by an impressive 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty, whichever comes first.

In terms of safety, the XL7 Hybrid now includes cruise control and retains other essential safety features such as electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and dual airbags.

Where Does the XL7 Stand in the Market?

During the first half of 2024, the Suzuki XL7 ranked fifth in sales within the MPV segment, with 1,780 units sold. It outperformed competitors such as the Honda BR-V, Hyundai Stargazer, and Toyota Avanza. However, it trailed behind the Mitsubishi Xpander (including the Xpander Cross), Toyota Veloz, Kia Carens, and Toyota Innova Cross.

In July 2024, the XL7’s sales figures dipped, placing it near the bottom of the sales chart for the segment, with only 20 units sold. This could be attributed to anticipation for the upcoming launch of the XL7 Hybrid.

With its impressive array of upgrades, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is well-positioned to boost its sales performance in the coming months. In the past, the XL7 has even managed to secure second and third place in segment sales rankings.
