Viettel Post (stock code VTP) has announced the unexpected resignation of Major General Nguyen Thanh Nam from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 2024-2029 term.

In his resignation letter, Major General Nam requested to step down from his position as of August 17, citing personal reasons.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Nam, born in 1969, was first appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viettel Post on April 24, 2021, and was subsequently reappointed on April 27, 2024, at the company’s annual general meeting.

Prior to this role, on November 27, 2018, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam was appointed by the Ministry of Defense as Deputy General Director of Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel), the parent company of Viettel Post.

On August 15, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of Viettel held a conference to hand over the duties of the Party Secretary and Deputy General Director of Viettel. It was agreed that Major General Nguyen Thanh Nam would retire from his position as of August 1, in accordance with his wishes.

In the first half of the year, Viettel Post reported revenue of nearly VND 9,620 billion, a slight decrease compared to the same period last year. After-tax profit reached VND 152 billion, a 12% drop. As of this period, VTP has achieved 73% of its revenue target and 41% of its profit target for the year.

VTP is a newcomer to the HoSE stock exchange, having been listed since March 12, 2024. Previously, the stock was traded on the UPCoM market. Currently, VTP is trading at VND 77,100 per share, marking a nearly 36% increase since the beginning of the year. This is not yet the peak for VTP, as the stock reached a high of VND 96,000 per unit in late June.
