Delegate Duong Van Phuoc of Quang Nam Province stated that according to the Government’s report, one of the shortcomings in market management is the lack of responsibility among a part of the officials and civil servants, with some even colluding with law violators.
The representative of Quang Nam Province quoted the Government’s Report No. 318 dated June 14, 2024, which pointed out that “a part of the officials and civil servants lack a sense of responsibility, and there have been cases of collusion with law violators.”
Delegate Duong Van Phuoc asked the Minister of Industry and Trade to take responsibility for such collusion and provide solutions to address this issue in the near future.
In response to the question, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien acknowledged the accuracy of the statement. He explained that market management officials work independently, with each person in their position having the authority and responsibility to decide on penalties and identify legal violations.
Given the nature of the work, the Ministry has directed the regular rotation of market management officials in charge of different areas. Secondly, the Ministry holds the leaders accountable for any violations that occur under their watch, and they will be strictly handled according to the law. Thirdly, the Ministry continues to advise on amending and perfecting mechanisms and policies, especially in inspection, supervision, and handling of violations.
Over time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has demanded and punished numerous cases, including officials at different levels and those directly managing the areas. Dozens of officials have been transferred to competent authorities for handling according to legal regulations.
“Dozens of officials have been handled by competent authorities due to violations,” said Minister Nguyen Hong Dien.
The Minister of Industry and Trade emphasized that they would continue to improve management, enhance the responsibility of leaders, and coordinate with forces to detect and handle violations within the market management force. In addition, the Ministry will regularly rotate market management officials in charge of different areas to ensure transparency and prevent collusion.
