For car enthusiasts, supercars are not just a means of transportation; they are revered as masterpieces of engineering. These could be speed demons, off-road beasts, or intricately crafted vehicles designed for the ultimate comfort of their occupants.

In September, car enthusiasts in Vietnam will be treated to a fascinating event featuring hundreds of high-value supercars from around the world. Specifically, from September 14 to September 18, the Gumball 3000 supercar rally will take place in Vietnam before moving on to Singapore.

The Gumball 3000 rally was first organized in 1999 and has since gained immense popularity among car enthusiasts, eventually becoming a global event. Founded by a British entrepreneur, the rally aims to offer a unique driving experience along the routes it traverses. It also combines automobiles with music, fashion, and pop culture.

Gumball 3000 2024 marks the first time the rally is held in Vietnam.

2024 marks the first time Gumball 3000 has chosen Vietnam as a destination in its 25-year history. Ho Chi Minh City is the first stop on the route, followed by Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia, with the journey concluding at the F1 racetrack in Singapore.

The rally takes place from September 14 to September 22, with the Vietnam leg ending on September 19.

In addition to the rally, Gumball 3000 also established a charitable foundation in 2013, aptly named the Gumball 3000 Foundation. The foundation aims to support young people facing challenging circumstances through projects focused on education, creativity, and infrastructure worldwide. These projects often involve sports, music, fashion, and art.

During each year’s rally, the Gumball 3000 Foundation announces the total contributions made by each participating team. Each team consists of the occupants of a single car. For the 2024 rally, the foundation’s list includes an impressive 120 teams, corresponding to a maximum of 120 cars.

This year’s list showcases an array of rare supercars from various prestigious brands, including the McLaren 765 LT (limited to 765 units), Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (limited to 900 units), and Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series ‘P One Edition’ (limited to just 40 units).

Additionally, several other notable vehicles stand out, such as the Pagani Huayra Roadster, Koenigsegg Regera, and Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, as well as classic cars like the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup-style conversion, Porsche 911 Carrera RS, and Chevrolet K10.

In addition to the participants’ cars, the event is rumored to feature several notable vehicles from Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu’s collection. While unconfirmed, it is believed that Mr. Vu will display up to 16 cars at the event, six of which have already been revealed.

The first six cars include five Ferraris: the 458 Spider, 488 GTB, 599 GTB, F12 Berlinetta, and F8 Spider. The sixth car is a Bugatti Veyron, the only one of its kind in Vietnam and one of the most powerful and fastest cars in the country, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of over 400 km/h.

Previously, Vietnam has hosted several supercar rallies, with the first being Car Passion in 2011, featuring an array of supercars, sports cars, and luxury vehicles from across the country. Subsequent rallies have taken place but on a smaller scale.
