With nearly 200 years of global development, the insurance company with the iconic winged lion logo and Italian-style general agency offices is gradually “painting the town red” in many provinces and cities nationwide with a solid core value system and a dynamic spirit.

Ma’am, sustainable development has become an inevitable trend. So, in the field of life insurance and specifically at Generali Vietnam, what will be the key factors for sustainable development?

What I always appreciate and am proud of about Generali Vietnam is the long-term sustainable value system, which is consistently implemented throughout the Group and its member companies. We have global experience in life, non-life, and health insurance, green investment, and creating positive values for the community.

As a responsible investor, Generali always integrates the three elements of sustainable development: Environment, Society, and Governance (ESG) to evaluate our investment portfolio, and we only invest in green and sustainable projects.

As a responsible insurance company, we actively promote digital transformation and support small and medium-sized enterprises; provide sustainable insurance solutions. A typical example is the set of environmentally friendly contracts just launched in the market in April 2024. For each set of contracts, Generali donates a tree to contribute 50,000 trees to create sustainable livelihoods for the Raglai people in Ninh Thuan province.

In addition, community support initiatives to provide knowledge and unleash the potential of disadvantaged groups in society are also the persistent efforts of Generali Vietnam over the years in its role as a responsible corporate citizen.

Finally, Generali is committed to being a responsible employer, focusing on skill training, promoting diversity, fairness, and inclusiveness in the organization through flexible and creative working solutions. People and corporate culture are important factors in determining success in achieving sustainable development goals.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Anh – General Director of Generali Vietnam

So, how has Generali focused on developing its people strategy, Ms. Anh?

We are proud to have built a solid foundation with a talented, passionate, and cohesive team in an environment that promotes diversity, fairness, and inclusiveness. From the “rear guard” of all permanent employees to the “frontline” of financial consultants in the agency channel and the bank partnership channel, we have implemented many policies and strategic actions to promote and inspire creativity.

Generali Vietnam’s employees are empowered in a frank and open environment to express their thoughts and new ideas. Not afraid of failure and always ready to step out of their comfort zone, that is the spirit of every “Gentizen,” because everyone has the opportunity to grow and hone their resilience from their own and their colleagues’ stumbles.

Always listening to employee feedback and learning from global management strategy examples, we prioritize enhancing training and development, helping each employee go beyond their current job scope. Leveraging our multinational network, we have talent exchange programs lasting from six months to a year for employees to step out into the “big world,” experience working styles in many countries with Generali’s presence, and participate in regional and global projects.

Emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Generali Vietnam pays special attention to building smart and flexible working policies for employees who need assistance, such as disabled employees and those who have just given birth. Currently, half of our management personnel are women, proving that at Generali Vietnam, everyone has equal opportunities for development and promotion and fairness in rewards and income.

Let’s talk more about the life insurance industry’s core workforce, the group of financial consultants. What solutions does Generali have to improve the quality of this team and retain them?

I think that when recruiting and developing a team of financial consultants, we need to go in-depth to create a sustainable working environment, so everyone feels the spirit: Grow together, succeed together. It can be likened to that everyone is on the same “flight” to “take off” towards the future, and no one will be left behind. Only with unity and collective strength can we achieve breakthroughs and success.

In addition to the reward policy, Generali creates every opportunity to share and improve knowledge and skills, helping financial consultants define a clear career path. We are proud that the community of financial consultants “spreads the word” that Generali is the place for you to “break out of your cocoon” and join global “playing fields.”

Excellent Financial Consultants of Generali at the 2024 MDRT Asia Conference

Every year, Generali Vietnam’s financial consultants can interact and learn from each other at a series of prestigious conferences and large “playing fields,” such as the MDRT Asia Conference held in Sanya, China, or the Global Advisor Excellent Contest (GAEC) – a global全能 financial consultant event, gathering outstanding individuals from Generali’s member companies across Asia. The criteria for evaluating financial consultants at the Generali Group are not only sales but also the Net Promoter Score (NPS), building a professional image on social platforms, and contributing positively to the community.

Focusing on the human factor in the journey of sustainable development, how has Generali implemented its community strategy to create a unique impression?

Generali’s spirit is passion, dedication, and contribution to community movements globally, from the consistent leadership policies of the Group. Generali established the non-profit organization The Human Safety Net with a network in 26 countries, sharing the mission of supporting vulnerable individuals and communities, helping them overcome barriers and develop their potential, and encouraging mutual affection in society.

What impresses me is The Human Safety Net’s consistent principle of bringing sustainable values, “providing means and knowledge” instead of short-term sponsorships. Years ago, we left our mark with the community education program to enhance parenting knowledge, followed by fundraising activities to build schools in many localities such as Dien Bien, Dak Lak, Quang Tri, and Tuyen Quang to improve educational conditions for children.

The “Red Spirit” of passion, dedication, and contribution of the Generali team with community projects.

We will continue to implement these community projects widely with the strong unity and cooperation of all employees, consultants, and customers. The strong spread of Generali Vietnam’s community projects is clear evidence of the values we pursue: the spirit of unity, responsibility, and sharing of Generali Vietnam’s employees and consultants for the community.

Thank you, Ms. Anh!
