In 2015, Ha Tinh Electric Vehicle Joint Stock Company invested in a project to manufacture and assemble vehicles with and without engines, as well as electronics and home appliances, in the Dai Kim Industrial Park in the Cau Treo International Border Gate Economic Zone, Son Kim 1 commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, with a total investment of up to 55 billion VND.

After completing the legal procedures, Ha Tinh Electric Vehicle Joint Stock Company proceeded to construct a factory, install assembly lines for electric vehicles and motorcycles. By the end of 2017, the factory began trial operations.

However, shortly after, the company had to cease operations and shut down the factory due to difficulties arising from changes in mechanisms and policies, which resulted in the termination of tax incentives for industrial parks in Ha Tinh province and other preferential treatments. This meant that the factory’s products faced challenges in competing with other electric vehicle brands in the market.

After more than 7 years of abandonment, the electric vehicle assembly factory fell into disrepair, with overgrown vegetation and a neglected appearance.

The main gate of the factory remains closed, with no sign of human activity inside.

Over time, the factory buildings have deteriorated…

… with vegetation overtaking the structures.

Creating a gloomy atmosphere.

Inside, furniture and equipment are scattered across the floor in disarray.

Numerous valuable machines…

… and the electric vehicle assembly line have been left unattended, covered in dust within the factory premises.

On the left side of the factory is a large workshop spanning thousands of square meters. However, after the project was halted, this area was “flexibly” converted into a wood pressing production line.

However, the Ha Tinh Economic Zone Management Board later halted this wood pressing workshop as the enterprise had unilaterally changed the purpose of the project.

Outside the factory premises, as the factory has been inactive for many years, local residents have utilized the project’s land for growing crops and grazing cattle.

Speaking to the Labor Newspaper, Mr. Hoang Van Thu, Chairman of Son Kim 1 Commune People’s Committee, Huong Son District, expressed his hope for the resumption of the vehicle production and assembly project in Dai Kim Industrial Park or its conversion to another purpose to create job opportunities for local residents.

“Leaving such a large area of land idle for a long time, especially in a prime location, is a huge waste,” said Mr. Thu.
