In this interview, Dr. Rabie Sleiman, Medical Director and CEO, and Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Mai, Executive Director of FV Hospital, shared their long-term goals for the development of Chiropractic Spinal Neurology treatment in Vietnam.

With over 18 years of experience in Vietnam and 3 clinics in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, can you tell us about your development strategy?

Dr. Rabie Sleiman: When expanding the ACC clinic chain, we prioritize optimizing customer service and patient care before considering expansion to other locations. In Southeast Asia, I’ve seen many spinal neurology clinics grow rapidly but compromise on the quality of their examinations. We don’t want that to happen at ACC.

How does the manual adjustment technique help correct spinal misalignments and provide pain relief without risks?

Dr. Rabie Sleiman: Chiropractic spinal neurologists undergo eight years of rigorous training. Before learning the practical aspects of spinal adjustment techniques, we need to understand why we’re making those adjustments for each patient’s case.

In reality, many people claim to be chiropractic specialists. Patients may feel they’re being treated correctly because they hear the “cracking” sound during therapy, but the doctor doesn’t know why they’re performing those maneuvers. This often leads to serious injuries. That’s why I always emphasize the importance of finding and choosing a well-trained, fully licensed, and certified specialist.

What challenges did ACC face when entering the Vietnamese market?

Dr. Rabie Sleiman: After 14 years of living and working in Vietnam, I’ve noticed that many patients struggle to find a reputable chiropractic clinic. Thankfully, more and more spinal neurology service providers recognize us as a leading institution. However, this also brings challenges, as some places intentionally imitate ACC, causing confusion among patients and potential risks to their health.

Overall, we’re proud to contribute to the development of chiropractic medicine in Vietnam, but we’re also concerned about unfair competition and false advertising, which can affect patients’ rights.

What are ACC’s plans to promote this treatment method?

Dr. Rabie Sleiman: ACC is proud to be a part of the FV Group, where we constantly innovate and adopt the most advanced treatment techniques. Now, under the Thomson Medical Group, we can further expand into Southeast Asia, introducing non-invasive techniques and treatment protocols. We believe this collaboration will greatly benefit our patients.

Can you share FV’s role in supporting and collaborating with ACC?

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Mai: FV and ACC share the same patient-centric goals. FV Hospital practices Western medicine, including internal medicine and surgery, while ACC can help patients with musculoskeletal issues through chiropractic methods and post-surgical rehabilitation at the hospital. Together, we provide a comprehensive healthcare journey for patients, from preventive care to treatment and follow-up care.

Can you elaborate on the future research and training collaboration plans between FV and ACC?

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Mai: Currently, ACC is not only a member of FV but also part of the Thomson Medical Group in Singapore. We’ve outlined specific directions and collaborations in training and technology transfer. Moving forward, FV, ACC, and our partners from Singapore will develop home care services, providing rehabilitation and physical therapy for post-stroke patients, bedridden patients, or those who’ve undergone knee, hip, and orthopedic surgeries.
