The following information was reported at the August conference of the Vietnam Airports Corporation JSC (ACV) on August 23, 2024, chaired by Chairman of the Board of Directors Lai Xuan Thanh and CEO Vu The Phiet.

Chairman Lai Xuan Thanh and CEO Vu The Phiet presented an overview of the past eight months: ACV’s airports handled 75,852,267 passengers, including 27,472,661 international visitors, a remarkable 32.4% increase compared to the same period last year. In contrast, the domestic market experienced a 17.3% decline, serving 48,379,606 passengers.

This contrasting performance was also reflected in flight data. While international flights surged by 22% to 170,362, domestic flights decreased by 19.5%, reaching 289,772. The total number of flights during the eight-month period was 460,135, a slight drop of 7.9% from 2023.

A notable highlight was the strong growth in cargo and mail volumes. The total cargo handled was 995,304 tons, a 25.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Domestic cargo, in particular, saw an impressive 32.8% growth, while international cargo also increased by 22.7%.

In parallel with embracing the wave of international tourism, ACV is expediting key projects. The T3 Terminal at Tan Son Nhat Airport is in its final stage, with 100% completion of the concrete structure, aiming for operation before April 30, 2025.

At Long Thanh, the construction of the Phase 1 international airport is progressing well, with 66.8% of the passenger terminal’s structure completed. The runway is also under rapid construction, targeting technical operation before April 30, 2025.

Meanwhile, in Hanoi, the expansion project for Terminal 2 at Noi Bai Airport commenced in May 2024 and is on schedule, expected to be completed before December 30, 2025.
