On August 29, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association and Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, hosted an awards ceremony to honor and encourage Vietnamese businesses to strive for sustainable growth and environmental protection. The event was part of a series of activities leading up to the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum, centered around the theme “Industrial Transformation: New Momentum for Ho Chi Minh City’s Sustainable Development.”

After rigorous evaluations by the appraisal and selection committees, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) was bestowed the title of “Ho Chi Minh City Green Enterprise 2024” in the field of trade and services by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

The program focused on three core objectives: First, to honor, reward, and encourage enterprises to comply with regulations regarding waste management, with an emphasis on environmentally friendly products; second, to heighten businesses’ sense of responsibility towards environmental protection, aiming for sustainable growth; and third, to support enterprises in promoting their brands and enhancing their competitiveness in the international economic integration.

As the market landscape evolves, ‘greening’ has become the new norm, both domestically and internationally. Enterprises must adapt to survive, thrive, and integrate into the global market.

Notably, PNJ’s sustainable development strategy revolves around three key dimensions: Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). The company’s ESG goals and plans are integrated into its business strategy, ensuring that all macro-level strategies, initiatives, production, and business operations are guided by ESG principles.

PNJ’s ESG strategy closely aligns with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GRI standards, Vietnam’s sustainable development goals, and the expectations of stakeholders, while also taking into account the company’s internal realities. In 2022, PNJ adopted an ESG statement: “PNJ acts responsibly to honor the beauty of people and life sustainably.”

Mr. Le Tri Thong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of PNJ, shared, “In 2024, PNJ remains steadfast in our commitment to the ESG strategy, continuously innovating and creating to reach new heights and solidify our position in the domestic market while increasing our appeal in the international arena. We pledge to continue delivering sustainable value to our shareholders, customers, and the community.”
