National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man has signed and issued Resolution No. 1160/NQ-UBTVQH15, approving Mr. Nguyen Van Thang’s resignation from his concurrent post as Head of the Dien Bien Delegation to the 15th National Assembly.

Accordingly, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee approved Mr. Nguyen Van Thang’s resignation from his concurrent post as Head of the Dien Bien Delegation to the 15th National Assembly due to his change of job.

Before his appointment as Minister of Transport in October 2022 (at the 4th session of the 15th National Assembly), Mr. Nguyen Van Thang served as Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang held the positions of Vice Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee, Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Dien Bien Delegation to the National Assembly.

Mr. Thang also has a background in the banking sector, having served as General Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Industrial and Commercial Bank.

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang was born on September 12, 1973, in Hanoi; he holds a Doctorate in Finance and Monetary Theory.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang is an alternate member of the Party Central Committee for the 12th tenure and an official member for the 13th tenure. He is also a deputy of the National Assembly for the 14th and 15th terms.
