National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man Embarks on Official Visit to the Russian Federation

Accompanying the National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man were: Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh, Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of the Vietnamese Sub-committee of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technological Cooperation; Secretary General of the National Assembly and Chief of the National Assembly’s Office Bui Van Cuong; Chairwoman of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha; Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Education Nguyen Dac Vinh; Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Economic Affairs Vu Hong Thanh; Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy; Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for National Defense and Security Le Tan Toi; Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi.
Also joining the delegation were leaders of agencies under the National Assembly; and leaders of a number of ministries, sectors, and localities.
This is the first official visit to the Russian Federation by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in his capacity as the National Assembly Chairman, and also the first visit to Russia by a key leader of Vietnam’s Party and State in 2024, following the visit to Vietnam by Russian President Putin in June 2024.
The visit is one of the substantive and effective activities to materialize the Joint Statement on further enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on the basis of 30 years of implementing the Treaty on the Basic Principles of Friendly Relations between Vietnam and Russia, agreed upon by the two countries’ leaders during President Putin’s visit to Vietnam; as well as the orientations to promote cooperation discussed and agreed upon between General Secretary and President To Lam and President Putin during their phone call on August 8, 2024.
The visit significantly contributes to promoting and consolidating the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in general, and the close and good cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the State Duma and the Federal Council of the National Assembly of the Russian Federation in particular.
