Established in 1994, BIM Group’s green imprint is evident through its four business pillars: Tourism Infrastructure and Real Estate Development; Agriculture and Food; Renewable Energy; and Consumer Services.

SUSTAINABLE GREEN PRINT BY THE BAY

The most prominent mark of BIM Group’s sustainable journey is in its tourism infrastructure and real estate development endeavors.

With a strategy to create differentiation, BIM Group, from its early pioneering steps, chose to venture into untapped regions, developing them into international-standard urban areas and tourism complexes.

When BIM Group first embarked on its hotel project in Ha Long and began constructing the coastal road leading straight to Bai Chay, few could have imagined that the area would now be home to the Halong Marina bay city, hosting renowned international resort brands such as InterContinental, Citadines, and Sailing Club, among others.

Planned as the center of the Bai Chay tourism area, the Halong Marina complex spans 248 hectares, stretching over 3.8 kilometers of coastline.

Similarly, BIM Group arrived in Phu Quoc when it was still a pristine island. By investing in the construction of the Phu Quoc Marina complex, covering an area of 155 hectares in the heart of Bai Truong, BIM Group has created a well-invested resort and entertainment destination, annually hosting the international sporting event BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc.

Collaborating with leading international resort brands such as Park Hyatt, Regent, InterContinental, Citadines, Fraser Suites, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn, BIM Land, a member of BIM Group, is one of the few domestic real estate developers that meet the stringent standards of these industry leaders.

At the same time, BIM Land stands out as a prominent non-public company issuing green bonds in the international market and successfully accessing sustainable bonds to invest in environmentally friendly real estate projects. The alignment of their project development trajectory with green financing from international financial institutions like IFC and ADB speaks volumes about the company’s capabilities and development philosophy.

With their sustainability commitments, BIM Land’s hotels in Ha Long and Phu Quoc are expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 4,000 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions of 890 gasoline-powered cars annually.

STRATEGIC HIGH-TECH AGRICULTURE

Over three decades of development, agriculture has always played a pivotal role in BIM Group’s ecosystem. The group is one of the largest industrial salt producers and one of the largest aquaculture and seafood producers in Vietnam, with thousands of hectares of aquaculture farms in provinces such as Quang Ninh, Kien Giang, and Ninh Thuan.

BIM Foods’ oyster farming area, a member of BIM Group, in Bai Tu Long Bay, uses PE oyster farming floats to minimize environmental impact.

Developing on a foundation of knowledge applied to business, BIM Group has brought about groundbreaking changes in the agricultural sector: from the successful localization of the Pacific oyster, contributing to the development of marine aquaculture in Quang Ninh; introducing the white-legged shrimp breed from Hawaii and a standard farming process using natural microorganisms in Quang Ninh and Kien Giang to the industrial model of producing industrial salt in Quan The salt field (Ninh Thuan) – one of the three largest salt fields in Southeast Asia.

Currently, BIM Foods has invested in over 2,500 hectares of industrial salt production and 1,600 hectares of aquaculture, improving the sustainable livelihoods of thousands of farming households.

GREEN ECONOMIC INTEGRATION

In early October 2021, the BIM Wind Power Plant in Thuan Nam District, Ninh Thuan Province, commenced commercial operations, marking the completion of BIM Group’s strategy to develop clean salt production in conjunction with clean energy on a 2,500-hectare land area, with a total investment of VND 12,000 billion.

The BIM Group’s renewable energy complex in Ninh Thuan combines clean salt production with wind power generation.

This complex produces 300,000 tons of salt (60-70% of Vietnam’s salt production) and 1 billion kWh of electricity annually, providing about 1,000 stable jobs for local workers. Additionally, the complex helps reduce carbon emissions by 600,000 tons of CO2 per year, contributing to the country’s Net-zero target by 2050.

The clean energy and salt produced at the Quan The Green Economic Complex are expected to be utilized to develop green industries, creating surplus value and optimizing local resources.

BIM Group’s sustainability strategy, spanning three decades of its establishment, has not only ensured the group’s stability in production and business operations but also demonstrated its stature and responsibility to the nation through its significant contributions to the state budget. As we step into a new decade, BIM Group remains steadfast in its goal of creating products that enhance the community’s living standards and foster sustainable development in the regions where BIM Group has a presence.
