On the evening of September 10, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong, Deputy Director of Vietnam Expressway Services Engineering Joint Stock Company (VEC E – the management unit of Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway), responded to VTC News that after 6 days of repairing the construction of expansion joints on one lane of Long Thanh Bridge, the work was completed, exceeding the scheduled progress by 2 days.

Workers toil through the night to repair expansion joints on Long Thanh Bridge along the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway.
According to the VEC E Deputy Director, the construction unit worked tirelessly day and night, putting in extra shifts and hours. Specifically, they adjusted, installed new expansion joints, and poured concrete to connect the joints with the bridge deck.
“Tomorrow (September 11) is the necessary waiting period for the concrete to gain strength. The construction unit will then finalize the surface and clean up the site, preparing to move to the remaining lane,” Ms. Phuong said.
The VEC E Deputy Director further shared that on September 12, the construction unit is expected to start working on the other lane (towards Ho Chi Minh City from Dong Nai).

According to the VEC E Deputy Director, the repair of the expansion joints on one lane of Long Thanh Bridge was completed after 6 days, 2 days ahead of schedule.
“The operating unit advises vehicles to move to the left lane when approaching Long Thanh Bridge towards Ho Chi Minh City from Dong Nai to avoid traffic conflicts near the construction site. VEC E would like to express our gratitude for the cooperation of relevant authorities and the understanding of drivers using the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway,” Ms. Phuong added.
Previously, the construction unit planned to complete the repair of the expansion joints at pillar P20 of Long Thanh Bridge (at the 12+228-kilometer mark, towards Ho Chi Minh City from Dong Nai) within 18 days starting from September 5.

On the evening of September 5, a severe traffic jam occurred on National Highway 51 and the entrance to the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway.
According to the approved repair plan for the expansion joints at pillar P20, the construction included installing a warning system, gathering materials and equipment, ensuring traffic safety, and labor safety. The contractor chipped away the concrete, removed the old expansion joints, installed new ones, and poured concrete to connect the joints with the asphalt concrete bridge deck.
As reported by VTC News, on the evening of September 5, National Highway 51 (in Long Thanh district to Phu My town) and the entrance to the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway (towards Dong Nai from Ho Chi Minh City) experienced severe congestion, with cars lining up and moving with difficulty.
The cause of the congestion was attributed to the closure of a section of Long Thanh Bridge along the expressway for expansion joint repairs.
According to observations, there was a long queue of trucks and cars on National Highway 51 and the road leading to the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway.
What did the investor say about the high operating costs of the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay highway?
The Thang Long Project Management Board reported to the Ministry of Transport about identifying funding sources to pay for the management and operation of the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay Expressway. If approved, the funding source will be paid to the operating unit before April 25.
