Saigon Co.op has been a pioneering distributor in developing and implementing a strategic plan for zoning raw material regions, contributing to the creation of a retail ecosystem that supports local communities and connects producers. This initiative has resulted in a food supply system that not only ensures safe and healthy options for consumers but also fosters sustainable development.

The event was graced by representatives from central ministries and sectors (Southern Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), leaders from various departments and sectors of Ho Chi Minh City, and several other provinces with products that fall under Saigon Co.op’s zoning strategy for phase 1 and phase 2 development (Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Ben Tre, Long An, Binh Thuan, and Son La).
During the program, Saigon Co.op signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dure Consumer’s Cooperative Union (South Korea) to collaborate on the import and export of goods between Vietnam and South Korea. The partnership also aims to exchange expertise in retail management and promote cooperative movements in both countries.
Saigon Co.op also signed memorandums of understanding with 17 suppliers from 6 provinces and cities (Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Lam Dong, Dong Thap, and Tien Giang), marking the completion of phase 1 of the “Saigon Co.op Product Raw Material Zoning” program. These partners specialize in the production and cultivation of Vietnamese agricultural products such as green-skinned pomelos, mangoes, bananas, honeydew melons, dragon fruits, napa cabbages, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, and cucumbers.

The raw material zoning process for Saigon Co.op’s products is expected to continue until the end of 2025, spanning phases 2 and 3 and involving the remaining provinces and cities nationwide.
Additionally, Saigon Co.op has provided production capital support and committed to purchasing products from 5 suppliers, including local cooperatives and raw material suppliers, who specialize in safe vegetable cultivation, such as cucumbers, beefsteak tomatoes, and napa cabbages.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, CEO of Saigon Co.op, shared, “Throughout our 35 years of establishment and development of modern supermarket operations, Saigon Co.op has always asserted its pioneering role in fulfilling our responsibility to the community and Vietnamese consumers in improving their quality of life. With this vision and nature, we continuously strive to enhance our supply chain, from production to distribution, to offer products that are not only beneficial to health but also environmentally friendly. More importantly, we aim to promote the sustainable development of Vietnamese businesses and the Vietnamese economy. Establishing raw material zones with corresponding planting area codes not only provides consumers with traceable and safe products but also ensures stable output for producers. Moreover, this is a crucial factor in helping distributors secure a stable supply.”

Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, affirmed, “Ho Chi Minh City has abundant potential and favorable conditions for developing raw material zones sustainably. With the determination and efforts of the city government, businesses, and the community, I believe we will establish high-quality raw material zones, contributing to economic development and improving the lives of our people.” (Source: https://congthuong.vn/nganh-ban-le-hop-tac-voi-nong-dan-dua-nong-san-sach-vao-sieu-thi-348057.html)
By establishing raw material zones, Saigon Co.op forges strong connections with partners, communities, and consumers, leading to comprehensive and sustainable development. This initiative not only brings economic benefits and meets the market’s evolving demands but also demonstrates Saigon Co.op’s strong commitment to environmental protection and enhanced corporate social responsibility.

Saigon Co.op, together with local farmers, cooperatives, and raw material suppliers, has established a strong partnership by proactively developing raw material zones, enhancing production quality, and fostering sustainable development.
The zoning of raw material regions with corresponding planting area codes provides consumers with traceable products that ensure quality and food safety, along with a wider range of reasonably priced options. At the same time, it helps producers, especially farmers, stabilize their output, increase their income, and improve their livelihoods. Moreover, raw material development is crucial for distributors to guarantee a stable and high-quality supply, thereby enhancing their reputation and competitiveness in the market. In parallel, this initiative positively contributes to socio-economic development, generates employment opportunities, and elevates the position of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market.
With a strong sense of “role, responsibility, and the desire to reciprocate the trust of millions of Vietnamese families,” as well as the expectations of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces where Saigon Co.op’s distribution system is located, Saigon Co.op is committed to diligently managing quality, consuming safe products, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
