The “mobile mansion” Rolls-Royce Ghost incident, involving a collision with a Hyundai Kona with license plate 30G-091.xx, has sparked heated discussions among netizens. The accident occurred on September 24th, on Le Thanh Tong Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
According to preliminary investigations by traffic police, while there were no injuries, there was significant damage to property. Specifically, the rear door of the super luxury car, valued at over 30 billion VND, was deeply dented and severely scratched. The rear wheel arch and rim suffered similar damage.
As images circulated on social media, many speculated that the cost of replacing the door could reach billions of VND. Some commented that the driver of the Kona should prepare at least 2 billion VND to compensate the owner of the Rolls-Royce for the damaged door.
Amid unverified information, a representative from a luxury car parts and materials import unit in Hanoi provided their insights. They stated: “The web price is $7,422, excluding import taxes and other fees. Assuming the door weighs 100 kg, the cost of painting and delivery would be around 250 million VND. If you order a custom color, it would likely cost around 300 million VND in total.”
It is evident that the damage to the Rolls-Royce Ghost extends beyond the door.
The comment section below the post was filled with mixed reactions to the statement from the luxury car parts unit. Even if the compensation amount is only 300 million VND, it is still half the value of the Hyundai Kona involved in the collision.
According to Scuderia Car Parts, a reputable supplier of genuine luxury car parts, a new left rear door for an older model Rolls-Royce costs over £5,000 (over 170 million VND). This price only includes the main part and does not cover associated components such as hinges, screws, handles, and locks.
Additionally, if the owner chooses to send the Rolls-Royce Ghost back to the factory in the UK for repairs, there will be numerous associated costs. This does not even include the coachline (a hand-painted detail) along the side of the car, which is expensive to recreate. According to estimates from several car workshop owners, the total cost to repair the Rolls-Royce Ghost could reach billions of VND.
