The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is a world leader in establishing measurement, technology, and science standards across various fields. When it comes to artificial intelligence and facial recognition, NIST is renowned for its rigorous testing and evaluation of algorithms, particularly through the Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) program.
To achieve this remarkable feat, VinBigdata outperformed 144 out of 153 facial recognition solutions globally in the FRTE 1:N Identification category, which involves comparing and searching for a specific face within a diverse database of skin tones and ethnicities. They competed against well-known brands such as Canon (Japan) and CloudWalk (China). Ultimately, VinBigdata secured a spot in the Top 10 of one of the most challenging categories in the rankings: Mugshot Webcam, which focuses on recognizing faces from low-quality images captured by electronic devices, including blurred and distorted photos.
Not only is FRTE 1:N Identification one of the most stringent evaluation programs globally, but it is also considered the “gold standard” for assessing the accuracy and performance of facial recognition technology. Currently, VinBigdata leads all Vietnamese tech companies in this prestigious ranking.
