An up-close look at the automobile manufacturing plant in Ha Long, Quang Ninh.

The factory is part of an automotive and auxiliary industry complex in the Viet Hung Industrial Park, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province. It spans 400 hectares and has an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles. This is Quang Ninh province’s first automobile assembly plant.

Conveniently located next to the expressway connecting Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Hanoi, the factory enjoys strategic advantages for both domestic and international trade. It is linked to a supply chain encompassing dozens of manufacturing facilities, including automobile assembly, battery and engine production, auxiliary services, ports, and more.

In September 2020, the complex project commenced with the vision of becoming a hub for automobile auxiliary businesses and high-tech component manufacturing. With an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles, the automobile production and assembly project will be the first in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to assemble and manufacture Skoda Auto-branded vehicles.

After four years of construction, the factory has completed its final stages and is ready for trial runs by the end of this year, with commercial operations slated for early 2025.

The front workshop is now complete and undergoing trial operations. Auxiliary areas such as the test track, office building, LPG station, fuel station, and others are also finished.

The investor is actively working to complete the remaining items and officially launch the cluster of factories. The manufacturing complex includes areas such as automobile manufacturing and assembly plants with 36.5 and 31 hectares, respectively; port areas of 14.27 hectares; CKD warehouses of 26.08 hectares; finished vehicle warehouses of 29.39 hectares; R&D areas of 18.7 hectares; battery and engine manufacturing facilities of 22 hectares; and auxiliary and service areas of 83 hectares.

According to the factory, the entire production and assembly line incorporates cutting-edge technologies from Škoda Auto, meeting European standards and featuring a high level of automation.

The assembly and manufacturing systems are designed to meet European standards, ensuring that the factory’s production and assembly processes comply with international quality standards and environmental protection requirements. The facility is also future-proofed to produce new car models.

The factory symbolizes the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. Its operation will serve as a “lever” for Quang Ninh to attract and gather more businesses in the automobile auxiliary industry, especially those specializing in high-tech components.
