This historic high represents a significant boost to the bank’s market capitalization, which now stands at over 93.143 trillion VND. The upward trajectory of HDB shares has been consistent, with four consecutive days of gains since December 25th, resulting in a 14% increase. Moreover, compared to the beginning of the year, the stock price has skyrocketed by more than 77%.

The rising stock price has positively impacted the wealth of HDBank’s shareholders. Notably, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao’s HDB shares are now valued at nearly 3.485 trillion VND, reflecting an increase of over 222 billion VND in a single day.

Additionally, Sovico Holdings owns over 501 million HDB shares, further highlighting the bank’s strong performance and investor confidence.

HDBank’s financial reports reinforce its impressive growth trajectory. The bank’s third-quarter pre-tax profit reached 4.490 trillion VND, a substantial increase of 42.7% compared to the same period in 2023. Moreover, the nine-month cumulative profit stood at 12.655 trillion VND, a 46.6% increase, and the bank is well on track to meet its annual profit plan, having already achieved 79.8% of the target.

Masan Consumer’s Stock Surges to Record Highs, Solidifying its Position as Vietnam’s Largest Food and Beverage Company

In a remarkable display of investor confidence, the stock price of Masan Consumer, a subsidiary of the Masan Group, surged by 10.78% on December 30th, closing at a record high of 260,000 VND per share. This marks the seventh consecutive day of gains for MCH, resulting in a 14% increase over the past week.

The impressive performance of MCH has been consistent throughout the year. Since the beginning of 2024, the stock price has skyrocketed by 245%, starting from a base of 75,000 VND. As a result, Masan Consumer’s market capitalization has surpassed the 188.4 trillion VND (approximately 7.4 billion USD) mark for the first time, firmly establishing it as the largest company in the food and beverage industry on Vietnam’s stock exchange.

Masan Consumer’s stellar performance has been a key contributor to the success of its parent company, the Masan Group. At the 2024 Annual General Meeting, billionaire Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Masan, likened Masan Consumer to a family heirloom diamond.

Mr. Quang himself owns 30,417 MCH shares, valued at over 7.9 billion VND. The Masan Group’s decision to spin off and list Masan Consumer on the stock exchange has proven to be a wise one, as it has unlocked significant value for shareholders.

The upward momentum of MCH shares can be partly attributed to the company’s generous dividend payouts. On December 30th, nearly 7,000 billion VND in 2024 dividends were distributed to shareholders. This follows a remarkable dividend payout ratio of 268% in 2023, totaling approximately 19,000 billion VND. Additionally, Masan Consumer’s plans to list on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) in 2025 and its ongoing share offering to existing shareholders further underscore its commitment to enhancing shareholder value.

Masan Consumer’s strong financial performance in the third quarter of 2024 also contributed to investor enthusiasm. The company reported a 10% year-over-year increase in revenue, reaching 7.987 trillion VND. After expenses, Masan Consumer’s profit after tax exceeded 2.094 trillion VND, a 14% increase compared to the previous year. Similarly, the profit after tax attributable to the company’s shareholders rose by 14% to 2.072 trillion VND.

The positive momentum continued in the first nine months of 2024, with revenue and profit after tax reaching 21.955 trillion VND and 5.553 trillion VND, respectively, reflecting increases of 11% and 14% compared to the same period last year.
