On the morning of January 24th (25th of the lunar month), a large number of passengers continued to flock to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City to return home for Tet holiday. During the early morning peak hours (from 3 am to 5 am), the domestic terminal was packed with passengers waiting to check in. Many had to wait for nearly an hour to complete the check-in process and drop off their luggage.
According to forecasts from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, today’s flight schedule and passenger volume are expected to be extremely high, with 1,002 flights and 150,000 departing and arriving passengers. Today’s passenger volume is considered the highest since the start of the peak season.

A representative from Tan Son Nhat International Airport stated that during the early morning peak hours from 3 am to 5 am (two hours before departure), the number of departing passengers at the domestic terminal was exceptionally high, with an expected count of over 12,000.

Given the high passenger volume and overloaded infrastructure, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has been in constant communication with the units operating at the airport to monitor the flight schedule and the frequency of flights during peak hours. This is to ensure appropriate adjustments and an increase in personnel to facilitate smooth operations.
Today, a high volume of international departing and arriving passengers is expected, with over 56,000 international passengers (including approximately 30,000 departing passengers). Therefore, units are advised to pay attention to peak hours and strengthen their workforce to ensure efficient services, especially at the immigration counters during the morning hours of 7 am to 10 am.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport also advised the ground service units to maintain an increased workforce near the baggage carousels at the domestic terminal during peak hours. This will ensure timely baggage release, prevent baggage congestion on the carousels, and allow for constant supervision in this area.
