The new cashless payment option for metro passengers in Ho Chi Minh City has been introduced, offering a convenient and seamless travel experience. With this update, passengers can now use their domestic payment cards or credit cards from 25 NAPAS member organizations to tap and pay at the metro gates. The process is simple: passengers gently tap their NAPAS card on the control device at the entry gate (tap-in) and do the same at the exit gate (tap-out) to complete the payment transaction. This innovative solution is implemented by Sacombank, the payment acquirer, in collaboration with technology partners, and is currently available on the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien Metro Line.

At present, passengers can choose from multiple cashless payment methods, including Mastercard, Napas, and QR codes via the HCMC Metro HURC app. In the upcoming phases, the automated fare collection system on Metro Line 1 is expected to expand its acceptance to other card networks such as Visa, JCB, UnionPay, and American Express, among others.

The open-loop technology used in this transportation payment solution enables passengers to use their credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or e-wallets for convenient transactions. This contributes to a seamless transportation network where all transactions are swift, secure, and modern, encouraging green mobility and environmental sustainability, especially among the youth and office commuters.

Until the end of June 2025, Sacombank is offering a promotion where customers who open a Sacombank Mastercard Metro Pass card at their branches, through Sacombank Pay, or via the HCMC Metro HURC app will receive a gift of VND 50,000.

With the Sacombank Mastercard Metro Pass payment card, customers can enjoy the convenience of tapping to pay for their metro rides, as well as access other features such as cash withdrawals, transfers, and regular shopping transactions.
