The People’s Committee of Quang Binh province has just coordinated with the Provincial Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission to organize a regular press conference for May 2025. According to the information at the press conference, the province’s industrial, retail, tourism, transportation, and public investment growth all showed positive signs.
Specifically, in May 2025, Quang Binh’s industry continued to play a driving role in growth. The estimated industrial production index (IIP) increased by 5.2% compared to the previous month and 6.9% compared to the same period in 2024. This is a positive sign, especially considering the challenges many localities face in supply chain recovery.
Among the industry groups, food processing stood out with notable growth, ensuring a stable supply of raw materials. Additionally, the production of garments, paper, metals, electricity, and electricity distribution also saw significant increases compared to the previous year, positively contributing to the overall industry growth.
Several key industrial projects were expedited to lay the foundation for the next phase of production. The People’s Committee of Quang Binh province shared that in June, they would focus on finalizing and promoting the implementation of projects such as the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, QT Quang Binh Industrial Garment Factory, La Trong Hydropower Project, Tun Power Expansion, and renewable energy projects like the energy pellet project by Dohwa and Trung Chinh Development Resource Companies, and Quang Binh Paper.
Total retail sales of goods and commercial services revenue in May were estimated at VND 5,631.4 billion, up 2.7% from the previous month and 12.45% from May 2024. In the first five months of the year, the total retail sales reached approximately VND 27,463.3 billion, a 35.46% increase.

The transport and warehouse sector also showed positive signs, with total revenue estimated at over VND 2,450 billion in the first five months, stable growth compared to the previous year. This contributed to enhancing the province’s goods and passenger transportation capacity.
Quang Binh Tourism Week in May 2025 was a vibrant event with art and sports programs and engaging experiential activities. As a result, tourist arrivals surged to over 630,000 in May, a nearly 59% increase compared to May 2024. Cumulatively, by the end of May, Quang Binh had welcomed more than 2.1 million visitors, a 15.8% increase.
Total tourism revenue reached nearly VND 2,492 billion, underscoring the crucial role of tourism in the local economy. The province also focused on enhancing service quality, providing training for tour guides, and developing new tourism products to increase attraction and retention.
In terms of budget revenue, in the first five months of the year, the total state budget revenue in Quang Binh province was estimated at over VND 3,094 billion, reaching 47.57% of the Central target and 44.61% of the local estimate. This positive result is notable, given the challenges many localities face in budget collection, reflecting effective management and nurturing of revenue sources.
Regarding public investment, the province has disbursed VND 1,103 billion so far, significantly contributing to accelerating the progress of basic construction and socio-economic infrastructure. Additionally, the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province approved investment policies for 25 new projects, with a total registered capital of nearly VND 5,411 billion. Expediting approval and disbursement of public investment is a crucial strategy for sustaining long-term growth.
Alongside economic development, Quang Binh province pays special attention to social welfare. As of May 27, the province started the construction of 1,500 houses for poor, near-poor, and ethnic minority households and 2,034 houses for people with revolutionary merits and families of martyrs. This housing program is one of the key priorities for the province in 2025, reflecting its commitment to leaving no one behind in its development journey.
In June 2025, the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province aims to continue promoting the development of processing and manufacturing industries and energy industries. The province is focused on directing the operation of large factories, such as the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, La Trong Hydropower Plant, garment factories, and renewable energy projects, which are in the completion phase.
Furthermore, the province will continue to maintain the stable operation of the B&T wind power plant, Ho Ho hydropower plant, Dohwa Le Thuy solar power plant, and promote the exploitation of rooftop solar power and heat recovery technology in cement production to ensure energy security.
