On June 29, Vingroup officially inaugurated the VinFast Hanoi Electric Vehicle Factory in Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ky Anh Town, after just seven months of construction. The project is expected to not only promote green energy transition but also boost industrial development and local employment.
The VinFast Hanoi factory is built on an area of 360,000 square meters, including main production workshops such as body welding, painting, assembly, logistics warehouse, and a quality inspection center. In addition, an auxiliary factory complex spanning 240,000 square meters is also under construction and is expected to continue expanding in the coming years to meet production demands.

Currently, the factory focuses on producing small urban electric vehicle lines, notably the VF3, Minio Green, and EC Van, with several new models in the pipeline. According to VinFast, these products target young consumers who prioritize flexible urban mobility and energy conservation, as well as environmental protection.
In the initial phase, the factory is designed to produce 200,000 vehicles per year, equivalent to approximately 35 vehicles per hour. VinFast plans to expand its scale to increase production and promote localization of components to form a domestic supply chain. Additionally, VinFast aims to establish an R&D center in Hanoi to enhance technology innovation and improve product design capabilities.

A significant aspect of the project is its direct impact on the local labor market. VinFast Hanoi is expected to create approximately 6,000 jobs in the initial phase and potentially expand its workforce to 15,000 people. The factory is also anticipated to become a magnet for auxiliary businesses, contributing to the formation of a synchronized supply chain for the electric vehicle industry in Vietnam. The goal is to achieve over 80% localization by 2026.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, affirmed that the VinFast Hanoi factory marks a strategic milestone in the group’s orientation to expand its global production scale.
“The operation of the VinFast Hanoi factory is a significant step towards realizing our goal of producing one million electric vehicles annually. This clearly demonstrates our technological capabilities and our pioneering vision in promoting sustainable transportation in Vietnam and internationally,” emphasized Mr. Quang.

On behalf of the local government, Mr. Vo Trong Hai, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi, pledged to coordinate closely with the investor to address any issues that may arise during the operation, ensuring the best conditions for the stable and efficient operation of the factory.
VinFast is currently developing five electric vehicle factories in Vietnam, the United States, India, and Indonesia. The Hanoi factory is the second in Vietnam after the facility in Haiphong. The factories in India and Indonesia are also expected to be completed soon to serve the rapidly growing international markets.
