Vietnam Airlines is introducing three different data packages for international flights: a messaging package priced at 5 USD allows unlimited messaging throughout the flight, a 10 USD package for one-hour web access, and a 20 USD package for unlimited web browsing.

Passengers can access and purchase these services via the in-flight WiFi portal using their personal devices.

For domestic flights, Vietnam Airlines is finalizing the payment system and will deploy it as soon as it is standardized in the Vietnamese market.

In the initial phase, Vietnam Airlines will offer a complimentary package of unlimited web browsing for business-class passengers and 15 minutes of free messaging on messaging apps such as Zalo, Viber, and WhatsApp for all passengers on both international and domestic routes.

This initial phase will only be available on Airbus A350 aircraft.

From now until the end of December 2025, Vietnam Airlines will offer these services on Airbus A350 aircraft equipped with satellite-based internet connectivity. In the following period, the airline will continue to expand internet services to other aircraft types and collaborate with partners to diversify payment methods and access packages to flexibly meet the diverse needs of its customers.

“In this age of connectivity, the introduction of in-flight internet services holds great significance for both passengers and the airline,” said Mr. Đặng Anh Tuấn, Vice President of Vietnam Airlines. This move not only enhances the customer experience but also provides a competitive edge for the airline’s global expansion strategy.

The technological infrastructure for in-flight internet services is provided in collaboration with VNPT, Vietnam’s leading technology group, utilizing the Viasat satellite system from the USA.
