Honda has recently unveiled an upgraded version of its Honda Wave 125 motorcycle in Thailand, introducing significant improvements to its features and engine performance, resulting in a highly practical ride.
The Honda Wave 125 is considered one of the most popular motorcycle models in Thailand. While Honda does not distribute this particular model in Vietnam, they offer a similar version known as the Future 125.

Specifically, the new Honda Wave 125 in Thailand boasts five new features, four of which pertain to enhanced amenities, with the remaining one being an engine improvement.
Firstly, the Honda Wave 125 now comes with a Smartkey system, a notable upgrade from the traditional multi-function key with a physical key. With Smartkey, riders no longer need to insert the key into the ignition; instead, they can keep it on their person, and the system will recognize it, enabling them to start the engine or open the storage compartment remotely.

The new model features a smart key system.
Another notable addition is a phone charging port, which is especially useful for riders using the bike for delivery services, eliminating the need for a separate power bank.
While the auxiliary storage compartment is located on the left, the charging port is conveniently placed on the right, just below the Smartkey system. Notably, the charging port is of the Type C variety, making it compatible with many modern smartphones.

The under-seat storage compartment offers a generous capacity of 17 liters.
Additionally, the bike now features a front hook made of premium plastic that can be folded down on either side, providing a convenient space for hanging items at the front of the vehicle.
Furthermore, the Honda Wave 125 is now equipped with a combined braking system (CBS). This feature distributes braking force to both the front and rear wheels when the rider applies either the hand or foot brake, reducing the risk of wheel lock-up and shortening the braking distance.

The R Special Edition ProFender version is limited to 500 units.
In terms of engine performance, the Honda Wave 125 retains its 125cc engine but with optimizations for better fuel efficiency. According to published specifications, the new model consumes approximately 1.4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (or 71.4 km/l), delivering 9.5 horsepower and 10.6 Nm of torque, making it more than capable of handling urban commuting demands.
Honda also introduced a limited-edition variant of the Wave 125 in Thailand, the R Special Edition ProFender, limited to just 500 units. This special edition stands out with unique color schemes, copper-colored rims, and a ProFender rear suspension that allows for hardness adjustments.
The Honda Wave 125 is available in four versions in Thailand, with prices starting at approximately 46.4 million VND for the standard model and going up to 53.7 million VND for the limited-edition version.

Interestingly, Yamaha also recently launched an upgraded version of its rival model, the Yamaha Jupiter Finn, in Thailand, just days before Honda’s announcement. The Jupiter Finn is now equipped with a combined braking system, marking it as the first model in its segment to introduce this feature.
Additionally, the Yamaha Jupiter Finn boasts improved fuel efficiency, consuming just 1.1 liters per 100 kilometers. Priced at approximately 33 million VND, the Jupiter Finn undercuts the Honda Wave 125 in terms of cost, setting the stage for an exciting competition in the Thai market as both Japanese manufacturers offer stylish, feature-rich, and fuel-efficient motorcycles in the commuter segment.
