VinFast has issued a statement in response to a recent incident involving a VinFast VF 3 vehicle owned by customer Phạm Văn Chính. The statement aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s behavior while descending Đá Trắng Pass in Hòa Bình and the subsequent investigation into the incident.

According to VinFast, Mr. Chính’s vehicle experienced a situation while driving downhill and navigating a curve. The road surface was wet due to light rain. The vehicle sustained frontal and rear collisions, and both the driver’s airbag and front seatbelts were deployed.

Following the incident, VinFast dispatched technical officers to collaborate with the service workshop to inspect and assess the vehicle. Their findings are as follows:

The vehicle encountered the issue while descending a slope and turning. The road surface was wet due to light rain.

The vehicle sustained frontal and rear collisions, and both the driver’s airbag and front seatbelts were deployed.

The steering system did not record any warning faults before the collision, and the installation status of the steering system components was normal.

Similarly, the braking system did not record any warning faults before the collision, and the installation status of the braking system components was also normal. Specifically:

First, there were no signs of overheating on the brake pads and drums. The brake shoe and drum measurements were within specifications;

Second, there were no signs of brake fluid leakage;

Third, the brake pedal travel was within standard parameters, and the brake performance met the manufacturer’s specifications during the pre-delivery inspection;

Fourth, the vehicle data did not record any warning faults before the collision. Just before the impact, the system recorded the driver’s braking and steering inputs at a speed of approximately 59 km/h.

Based on these findings, VinFast and the service workshop concluded that the cause of the collision was not due to any technical issues with the vehicle. There was no evidence of brake locking, and both the braking and steering systems were functioning normally prior to the collision, with no abnormal warnings recorded. Therefore, this case does not fall under the scope of the VinFast warranty policy.

In their statement, VinFast also requested that customers refrain from spreading misinformation that could damage the company’s reputation and infringe on its legal rights and interests.
